Okay, I have an issue.
I left my Laptop in 'sleep' mode overnight (as I often do) and came back to it today. About an hour through working on it I noticed a narrow pink vertical line has appeared on the left side of my screen. I have hooked my laptop up to another monitor and the display is fine on that, although said monitor is only 1024 by 768 as opposed to my native 1600 by 900.
Any advice Dakka?

(PS, I am good with hardware, but no way in hell am I fooling around with my laptops guts)

Sounds like the laptop's integrating monitor wiring is going awry. Consider getting it repaired.

Since the main moving part is the laptop screen/lid the connecting ribbon may have a break in it. I agree bringing it in for repair may be a good way to go.
