Hey guys, thinking about switching over from Blood Angels to Imperial Fists and going full shooty. Not looking to be tournament competitive, but I would like the list to be able to win its fair share of friendly matches. Basic plan is to attach the captain to the devastators and keep them back to preserve STW, DS the land speeders near any super heavies or other thick vehicles, use the predators as a back up in case the speeders explode too early, march the dreadnought and tac squads up to claim objectives. Everything except the predators is part of a battle demi-company, total is 1500 on the nose

3 Predators w/ Heavy Bolter Sponsons-285

You can’t just add more units onto a formation. There needs to be a specific slot for them. So while this fits into a CAD, you can’t use the battle demi-co for it.

That said, if you add a techmarine, and field the preds separately, you would have a gladius with an armored TF backing it up.

Where is the captain going and what’s his job? Seems a little lost.

Tacs are OK, but I might vary their gear a bit. Get some combis on the sarges to match the specials.

Instead of 3 MM speeders, I might go with 2 2xMM ones. Easier to maneuver to get them into melta range.

Not the biggest fan of the Dakka pred. If you want to be blowing away light stuff, you might be better off with whirlwinds. Or get some lascannons here.

Hey, thanks for the advice! I thought I could take the Demi-Co and then the predators separately, do I have to put them in their own formation? As for the captain, I was going to put him with the centurions so that the enemy would have a hard time killing him for the warlord point. As for the preds, I was thinking of using the bolters because of the chapter tactics, should I replace just the top gun or go full las? Everything else sounds good

With the exception of dreads, vehicles don’t get chapter tactics. So the HBs on the preds get nothing.

How does this look? I switched the Captain around a little, but he still seems kind of lost. The tacs all got upgraded to include the extra combi, the predators got upgraded to triple las, and the Dreadnought got axed for points.

Have you considered a Gladius Strike Force for this list? you're basically there with the layout. just have the Predators as an Armoured Task Force and find the points (65) for a techmarine.

Benefits:

OBJECTIVE SECURED (any unit can control an objective, even vehicles)

TACTICAL FLEXIBILITY : Can enact Tactical Doctrine once per game. All of Demi -Company can reroll ones when shooting to hit.

PAREGORIC CANT: All Predators will be ignoring Crew Shaken and Stunned if within 6" of techmarine

WILL OF THE OMNISSIAH: Techmarine has +1 bonus when repairing vehicles

Can you do that?

Idea for your list:

Demi Battle Company

Captain
Artficer Armour
Storm Shield
Power Fist
150

Command Squad (5 man)
x 2 Melta Guns
x 2 Flamers
Apothecary
DT: Drop Pod
170

Tactical Squad (10 man)
Combi-Grav
Grav Gun
Multi-Melta
DT: Rhino
210

Tactical Squad (10 man)
Combi-Grav
Grav Gun
Multi-Melta
DT: Rhino
210

Landspeeders x 3
Multi-Meltas
210

Centurion Devastator Squad (3 man)
Missile Launchers
195

FORMATION

Armoured Task Force
Techmarine
x 3 Predators w/ T-L Autocannons & Lascannon Sponsons

345

Don't need t-l lascannons on Preds, autocannon works fine
Captain goes with the Command Squad and Drop Pods first turn. Flamers and Meltas give flexibility (you either kill a vehicle or roast infantry). Being the only pod you need that flexibility.
Tac squads now have proper anti-vehicle / monstrous creature firepower. They get to the objectives
Landspeeders are double multi-melta speeders now.

Techmarine and Preds stay in the backfield with the Centurions
