Just to clarify, there is nothing new in this article. This is wave 9 stuff, not wave 10, and all of it has been known for weeks since the initial Gen Con release. Could you change the title to refer to the correct wave so people don't click on this thread looking for news?

My mistake. I haven't seen the dial for the Protectorate yet, as it wasn't in the preview, I was actually waiting to see if it got green turns.

The Shadow Caster is going to be an extremely fast ship, from the greens. I like that. And I hope they aren't stuck on a Hanjin operated ship...

It seems like the Protectorate Fighter has a nice dial. And the generic PS1 looks like it beats the Khiraxz 20pt ship. I do not think it will be good enough as a swarm ship since it is really fragile, but as an Ace Ship it can certainly try. There are just not a lot of action-economy options.

For aces, stacking Autothrusters and the title seems like an obvious choice. One will probably make it into my collection.

As for the Arc-170, I just really like the ship itself. I really am struggling to find uses for it that aren't better elsewhere but I really really want to use it a lot. The strong default is tail-gunner and something like R2-D2. The alternative seems like going for the juicy Astro-Crew combo and look for it as a sturdy support ship?

R2-D2 + tail gunner is what I went with originally, and it feels really underwhelming. Getting through the head-to-head opening to a point where you can take tail gunner shots is really awkward, and then if you do it's easy for them to just let you fly away and out of range (forcing another pass in your front arc). On defense R2-D2 was pretty good against light fire but having only one green die and no evade tokens means that the ARC is really vulnerable to being torn apart in a single pass before R2-D2 can save it. And, unlike Miranda, the ARC doesn't have the maneuverability to dodge arcs and keep incoming damage down to a point where regen can save it. Overall it just seemed way too inefficient and awkward compared to the other regen aces.

The only ARC build I've seen having any success is the cheapest one with R3-A2 and a tactician as a stresshog update. You lose the range-3 double stress in exchange for a second arc to enforce a no-fly zone, actions (!!!!!), a better dial, and a pilot ability that works very well with all that stress you're giving yourself. It's more expensive but it seems at least plausible that the extra points are worth it if you can make the rest of the list work.

It is. Some of us got early stuff from gencon and have been playing with it for a while. The Shadow Caster is fast with PTL and engine upgrade, and god help you if you're facing the stress version and get locked into doing (slow) green maneuvers. It isn't Kanan Dash but you just don't expect that kind of maneuverability on such a cheap ship.

Indeed. Damn. Never expected to see a straight '5' on a large based ship.

As you say, with engine upgrade it's going to be faintly ridiculous - and for that matter, if you want to do a first turn reposition (essentially flanking like HotR Han), then using one of the two illicit slots for a Burnout SLAM is even more ridiculous - you can essentially cover the width of the board in a single turn.

I played some games with Protectorates yesterday and I need to say that the Concord title is an amazing upgrade for them. They are -extremely- hard to kill in a straight up joust.

Played my Lancer yesterday (Ventress Stress build), its awesomely nippy, although I think I bought a duff batch of slicer tools, 15 odd rolls, 3 hits
