So there's been a lot of talk of 40k d10. So I did it. Let me know what's still unclear-I assumed a LOT.

If you change the mathematical scale without changing some of the fundamental assumptions (all-or-nothing AP, low wound counts, save stacking) it won't really fix anything.
This is a little vague for me to make any concrete comments, but d6s vs. d10s are a stylistic decision and the change is likely to create more problems than it solves (e.g. lasguns are already useless, how much more useless will they be when they have to break through rerollable 2+ saves on a d10? (about 3x more useless, for the record))

It would work great, but take a lot of work. Protip: don't use lasguns on 2+ armor. I personally would make ig tanks actually devastating in a d10 system.
Even the current ap system would benefit tremendously from just having more choices.
I agree that a lot more needs to change than what is listed in the linked document.
My version of ap: if ap is lower than armor, no armor save. If it is equal, you get half save rounded down. Terminators are 2+, riptide and broadside 3+, marines 4+. Melta is ap 2 but becomes ap 1 within half range. Plasma is ap 3.

If you address the issues with the 40k core rules first, .You could use a D10 to improve the granularity of the current resolution methods.
Or you could try alternative resolution methods that deliver a full range of results using a D6, to get a much wider range of proportional results.
This way the hoard armies still get to roll loads of D6 ,that are much better for mass fast rolling.

D10s roll just fine for mass rolling. I can tell you that from Bab5 Wars.

The problem with using d10 on the arguement of "Granularity" is that it only really applies to BS and armor. But then you have rolls baseds on comparing stats. WS vs WS (especially if you keep that terrible chart) and Strength vs Toughness are the two biggest examples. A difference of one goes from 16% to 10%, making everything less lethal.

Close to it with a couple of races on occasion. It was fine. We even had D20s thrown in and it was all color coded. All the charts get rewritten as well.
