Changing Our Legion's Name

Just getting back into the 40k side of the hobby as I've been spending the last week or two working on a new preheresy army. Looking for something fun and demanding where I can have a long drawn out, fun game.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Are those the only armies you will consider?
Couldn't I tempt you into the realm of daemons?

Hah yeah those are my main choices so far. Daemons will never step foot in this house! -holds up aquilla-

What's wrong with daemons? ;_;
You clearly don't have a problem with Heresy, what with the Slaaneshy Horus theme you have going on there.

Other than a fun game, what are you looking for in an army?

The ones listed give you tons of options between horde, buff orientated, shooting, CC etc.

What sort of army would you like to run?
It's a huge list that needs to be narrowed down a bit lol.

I'd ignore Orks or knights though as they won't really fit into the criteria of fun.

Knight - people will refuse to play against you.

Orks - so badly gimped at the moment they will struggle to do anything but die in droves and build a loss count quickly.

Tau is a fun army due to its versatility although if you are new to 40k I would say Chaos due to them actually being a lot easier to use. Not as many loop holes/combinations. But still all the fun anyway what is wrong with daemons?

Go for IG. They're cool and it's nice to play a bunch of normal humans in the 41st millenium.

Some of the armies listed are a bit boring (some are also rather weak). I'd go for Tau. Have fun!

Getting back into 40K hmm

- Dark Eldar are fantastic fun but not for the uninitiated
- Orks are the game's punching bag, don't be a punching bag unless you like being punched.
- Knights are one dimensional but you do have an excuse to play Pacific Rim in the background whenever you play
- Blood Angels are red marines minus the fun (supplement review pending), I'd only play them if I enjoyed the fluff
- Skitarri maybe a good suggestion when allied to Cult Mech, but I'm not sure it's too friendly to get into with that many special abilities
- Guard are fun in my ever so humble opinion but that's a hell of a collection you may need to collect...
- Chaos? Hahahaha, no. Daemons? Hell yes but not an option...

- That Leaves you with Tau (my suggestion)... You're fairly strong, have a unique aesthtic and although many people just go for the Riptide/ Stormsurge spam you have some other really cool units to play with. You have pretty much every shooting ability in the game and isn't too difficult to get into.

I hope you're not taking your poll straight up, lol, because it looks like orks.

Because we all want you to stay if you do join the ranks of 40k, and at least I would be up for a round of "which army suits my personality and intentions."

I put in a vote for DE, but I'm a diehard Eldar player so I might have a bit of a bias. If you are considering DE, may I suggest Corsairs? They are a half-way between DE and CWE, full of fun fluff, great opportunities for conversions and kitbashing, and you can entirely opt to not use Forgeworld's silly kits and just go straight into DE models. So, they are less difficult to get used to than DE for the most part, but can keep plenty of the fun the army has to offer. Plus, Corsairs are quite likely to avoid being as much of a punching bag for GW.
