I recently bought some Necrons and decided I wanted to something a bit different than the standard gunmetal/terminator look.
So after seeing a few ideas I decided on gold. Gold Crons.

Warrior

Warriors

Warriors and Scarabs

Monoliths

Nightscythes

CCB

Lord

Deathmarks

A barge

Gold Cron World

Hope you liked, if anyone wants to follow the scheme, its super simple

Chaos black undercoat
Retribution gold over it
Then wash with reikland fleshshade
Pick out details with moot green and liche purple
Wash vehicle recesses with biel tan green.

I know basic warriors are not big on detail, and are supposed to look like a uniform, unfeeling horde of metal, but I feel that they need a little something more to help them pop a little. Maybe do the tubes in an accent color, or more shade/tarnish/something. The ones with a bit more green/purple look a lot better IMHO.

The basing is a little odd as well. Just glue and snow flock? Would be another place to add some detail to the minis.

Also, a distressing lack of biomass. What does Hissy think of this endeavor?

Yep totally agree Nev. Those ones are some of the early warriors. I updated them all to have more purple on them and painted the guns tubing sections green so they arent as monotone.

Yeah snow all the way, all my terrain boards are snow and you know me and bases.

Shes livid as I just ordered a Gargantuan Squiqgoth today.
She wanted a second Heirophant.....

Need something to bring detail out. Always like to see stuff not done if the standard GW schemes.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

There is not this idea.

That is golden.

I actually like simple schemes like this, mind you. And gold and purple? Always a good combo.

I do like seeing alternative cron colours and you've done a good job with these Also loving that your army is fully painted, biglad bonus points for you there!

My suggestion would be to paint the rim base a different colour as this will break it up a bit. I'll also suggest maybe a small highlight with rune fang steel on some of your more detailed models just to break up the gold.

Again, great job!

I think this scheme has a lot of value.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

It may just be the pics, but I feel like all that gold it a bit flat. The scheme is great, but it just looks like you spray painted them gold, glued in the green-rods and called them done.

I think if you had done several washes to really darken the recesses, then picked out the highlights and freehanded some diagonal "sheens" on the flat areas, then you'd really look like fine polished gold.

Thats my signature style!

No but to be fair, there is a heavy wash of reikland fleshshade over them and biel tan wash too, the pics arent great since its a crud iphone 5 :(

TBH, I read the title and expected some garishly bright and hideous warriors. You sir, have proven me wrong!
As a 'cron player myself, those bots are a nice, dull gold whilst maintaining the glory that a golden dynasty should!

Thanks EDC and Just.

And so we come to the final piece in CronWorlds jigsaw puzzle.

The Tomb Citadel.
This was a fun piece to paint, nice large surfaces and flats to work with. Much prefer that than fiddly details

So here we go

Most of my terrain boards are done in a snow effect so I kept up that theme around the edges so it fits in. I didnt do the body of the board, I sort of wanted it to feel like the tomb has powered up and melted most of the snow from it. So just the edges/rims got done.

I had some extra sprue around from gauss weapons so decided to hack it up and add it to te board just to give it a little bit more pop. It fit pretty well actually, didnt have to shave it or hack it much.

Heres the Lord of CronWorld Lordy McLordington.

Happy Lordy?

Oh my yes Ratius, what a lovely world you have created for us. Thank you so much! We'll make sure to keep it clean, tidy and most of all Gold.

What a polite chap. See that Hissy, learn a thing or two please.

Get lost Ratius.

And CronWorld finally wakes up

Nice base for your crons there.

I think it’s a sign that I’ve played too much DoW when I just want to run up to the top corner there, plant a melta bomb, and make a bee-line to the exit.

Nice necrons. I think you should paint the base rims another colour, though.

Nonsense, one can never play enough DoW.

Revenge is a dish best served with mayonnaise and those little cheesy things on sticks.
