Is it known if there is none left in the 41st millenium, or they still exist like contemptor dreadnoughts?

Answer depends on the next Imperial Armour book. It's supposed to re-stat some 30K Mechanicum units for 40K Mechanicus, but as yet we don't know specifically what's coming forward and what stays in the Taghmata book.

The galaxy is vast. You could justify it as a hidden re-discovered storage vault. The 40K Mechanicus may have many things from the past, but may be unable to repair or replace them, so they may not use them unless in desperation. Alternatively there are other technologies, once used, but now deemed unacceptable or too dangerous so they get sealed away. So the Tech-Priest that dares use them may get labeled a Heretek.

Like much tech relics still exist.

Once main line tech has not vanished, just may be very hard to replace, very slow to build or true relics and guarded for most extreme circumstances.

Not much is declared fully lost.
Just very rare or suffichabtly complex that they do not use as regular forces.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

In the Slamanders novel "Rebirth" there's a Tech Priest with a Thalaxii. If they're still around, then Thanatars can be as well.

Well there are undoubtably some of them around somewhere.

Remember though that most of the legio cybernetica turned during the HH and ended up retreating into the eye after the siege of terra.
