I am all for stealing from giant corporations who regularly cheat consumers but this rubs me the wrong way. The images they have approproiated are not from megalithic corps. Seriously. Toho? Robotech? Harmonay Gold aint got nothing going on and you want to piggyback on their IP? Not cool.

Yeah, Giga-Robo! did this better. You can see the inspirations in the mechs, but they're still original designs.

These guys are very nearly ripping off the originals.

Hopefully this KS gets cancelled due to IP infringement BEFORE they take backer money...

Anyway, looks as if the campaign has had a bit of an uptick today, so that's good news!

While I'd REALLY like the minis, the questionable IP copy, the company (Crawling Chaos) was founded in 2016 and fact this is their first KS just sounds too many alarms for me. I wish them well, but gonna wait to see this actually drop to retail instead of investing.

Always a wise course for the risk averse, usually never a bad strategy.

I'd say your points 2 and 3 are more at issue here, but point 1 may cause some redesigns if they're...contacted!

but i'll say it's a 50-50 chance of at least one of the IPs being homaged objecting and that being pulled from the game after the KS is over

meh not a project I will be investing in so not of a concerned nature nor wanting to be involved, i'm sure whoever is doing this project knows full well what they are doing and the consequences. if not then any backers will have a lot more to worry about.

If this had a more modern "Pacific Rim" style I would be all over it!

As it stands, good luck to them, but it's not for me.

..or they'll have to adjust/change it in order to not have it be an issue...

Oh wow, not even subtle on ripping all those characters. There's no way this gets thru without some C&Ds. As soon as they posted that not-Macross Valkyrie figure they sealed their doom. Harmony Gold sues like it's their job.

Homage is one thing, making a profit on it is another.

Having actual legal 'opinion' would be good.

They can claim "homage" all they want. Blantently ripping off a Valkyrie to sell a product makes Harmony Gold's lawyers salivate.
