so I have a Nurgle themed CSM army with deamon allies. the main thing I seem to be lacking is ranged firepower. was thinking of add some tanks to my army. problem is I know very little about imperial guard and need advice on what to add? I was looking at pask and command squad of tanks? not sure honestly.

I can add up to 300-500pts of AM for my 1750 list. or more if needed.

any advice welcome.

If you can find the Renegades and Heretics lists out of Vraks or IA13 (similar lists, but not identical) they'd give you Guard/tanks without having to worry about the Come The Apocalypse allies problem.

You might need more than 300-500pts if you want more than one or two tanks, though.

Get a renegade knight with dual guns.. That will give you some firepower right in the points range you're looking.

The renegade knight is GW and has rules in the recent traitors hate book.
Renegades & heretics are forgeworld models and rules. But they have platoons too and you can upgrade them in such a way as to be very similar to Imperial guard, minus orders.
They get different units and chaos covenants and the commander can change the list quite substantially instead. They don't have anything like the orders. They get even more ranged firepower than IG though by being cheaper. You can get laser destroyer arrays for a mere 20 points. They're worse by default but you can upgrade them which brings them closer to IG points.

So renegade guard can be made with the renegades & heretics list and converted GW models if you don't want FW models. They get valkyries and basiliks/leman russ variants just like regular guard.

Actually you could also use a csm knight, the rules are free on the forgeworld site atm. They use the normal knight kit, they don't have any special fancy forgeworld weapons.

Also, yea. You'd probably get more out of a knight than heretic allies if you want to take tanks. Although it depends on what kind of firepower you're thinking of.
Renegades are pretty much our only source of barrage for example, which gets even better with ignore cover from our new psychic powers. And if you're taking a purge detachment. you can literally fill the board with small blasts that cause dangerous terrain where they land. At 500 points you can still get a bunch of artillery units.
