Subject: Question on conversions/bits swaps with Calth Mk IV armor and Dark Angel Robes

Since leaving the hobby for a while, I threw out or sold or donated a ton of my old bits. As a consequence, I'm not really able to test out some bit swaps/conversions that I'd like to try. Has anyone tried to use "modern" marine armor bits with the Mk IV armor from the Betrayal at Calth box? Including Dark Angel bits like the robes. Do they work/fit? Any advice to make them work better? Also curious to know if there's a cheap way to put Aquilas on the chest guards since the models from BaC are pre-heresy/heresy era models. Apologies if this is the wrong forum. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd love to help but I'm still shuddering at the thought of throwing bits away, I think I've been triggered.

It was tough but had to be done. The things you'll do for women.

That's what a dusty box in the garage is for.
And most arms and such are compatible, may not look nice every time due to plain preferences, but they will fit.
I have mixed grey knights, bac. Space wil kits and black Rempler ones with no issue.

40k marine arms and to an extent legs and heads (beakies) work fine with B@C MkIVs.
I've noticed on the torsos though the MkIV torso has the usual two halves, but the little peg and holes on the inside to align the halves are flipped around. So you may need to shave off the pegs and just eyeball it when you glue the torso together.

The peg swap happened with the 6th edition marine kits. So the new sternguard/vanguard vets, modern tactical squad, and everything since then. Old kits use the old setup.

It works absolutely fine I've got a marine right now with a modern head, shoulders, arms, and bolter/pack.
MK4 legs and chest.

Ahh ok, I'm coming back to 30k from years and years of being away (I left back in 3rd ed) so this is news to me.

Pretty much every marine is compatible with every marine.
Only ones that are not compatible are Centurions and Terminators. And some finecast.

You might have a bit of trouble with the heavy bolter vs the robes.

The BaC heavy bolter is held by the marine just like a bolter. Unless the robes come out very far around the legs, I don’t think it would be an issue. And that might be able to be compensated by just leaning the torso back a bit.
