Progress update

Good day backers!

Three items are in today's agenda.
•Stretch Goal changes - more models
•Jack progress
•Moloch progress
•Who is Judas
•Who is Slayer

We are pleased to announce that we have moved some stretch goals after listening to you. We sit just over £1k from unlocking 2 more models, "Slayer" and "Judas" which both unlock at £16,500.

In fresh news, the stretch goal for £18,000 has been changed. The tournament still remains but the Gangbangers are now officially in the zone and you will be able to unlock this faction very quickly. In fact, if only half of our backers boosted their pledge by £40 we would be past the stretch goal and get close to more models in the Refugees of Religion. So you know what to do!

If we can unlock them, we will make a pledge that includes this faction as well as some more goodies, hows about that for incentive.



Jack has had some more love and goes to baking in time for the hands and the backpack, which by the way comes separately for you to choose. In addition Jack comes with a unique base that will have a fire hydrant on it.







Moloch draws closer!

Moloch the Host of Murder Inc is edging closer to completion, with the arms and head now separated so that the gears and cogs can be added!! He is well and truly going to be a beast.

That's not all, Le Vulture has begun creation and will come with the corpse on the base which will give you some really nice conversion ideas.





Who is Judas?

In Purgatory Judas is the ultimate betrayer but an assassin not short of cunning and deception. Just because you paid him to strike a target, it doesn't mean that you aren't safe yourself as Judas is just as likely to kill you and take the money as he is to take the 'Hit'!

In the game, Judas is a hired gun, he has absolutely no alignment and can only be purchased as a mercenary. Though he generates his own Gift of the Gods card each turn as a mark of his favour. His fate has always been his own and nothing will change that now.

Who is Slayer?

Slayer is a washed up singer. A man that had the world at his feet but his willingness to delve into the strange and peculiar alienated him from his supporters and soon he took to wandering the world, indulging in pleasures and sins wherever they could be found. His rise to prominence once again came about in unique circumstances.

The first he knew were the scores of people streaming from the surrounding buildings. They were screaming his name, someone yelled "Slayer" and the name stuck, he made to move but his path was blocked. Looking down was an Angel, it was dead, it's wings lay broken and tattered a few yards away. His body was splattered with the blood of the righteous and in in his hand his gripped a broad bladed axe.

Before he could say anything, he was swept up by the crowd and carried forth on the hands of humanity as they cheered and passed him down the street.

Slayer doesn't know how he came to kill the Angel, in fact the last thing he remembers was slouching in a chair with a comely woman after a particularly vicious dose of Opium but he wasn't about to tell anyone that because now he was a hero, a hero of mankind, the first to be credited with killing an Angel but more than that, people loved him once again and this time, they would never stop, he would be sure of that!

That's for this update. Lets now push on to £16,500 and get you those models unlocked, one free and one as an add on.

Update - Unlocks! Judas and Slayer join the party!

Hello everyone!

Well you have taken the challenge seriously that's for sure and we have reached the £16,500 mark which means that Judas (Free to Big Spenders) and Slayer (Add on) are now unlocked! congratulations to all.



Slayer is a really unique character. He is the first character in the game that has dual alignment. He can benefit from the Angelic Abilities of both Hosts Moloch and Erishkigal and you don't pay the mercenary costs for him if used in alignment with either Host. His abilities are very much in keeping with the Halloween feel and he is considered to be quite handy in the game itself!

If you are keen on the Soul Train or Murder Inc, this guy is a must have to switch in as an alternate Apostle. You can add him for £12 or Big Spenders get him for £9. He comes with the casket and the broken wings which are handy for conversion ideas.



Judas is a character of infamy. In Purgatory he is the arch assassin and will work for absolutely anyone if the price is right. You don't pay a mercenary cost for this guy and he can never benefit from Angelic Abilities. However, he is favoured amongst the Gods and he gains access to an extra Gift of the Gods card which is a handy trade off. Though you have to roll on the chart at the start of each game to see what his inclusion costs you!





We are now "Target Acquired" which means if need just under £1,500 to get to the next faction, OMG what an absolute blast! If we can do this by Monday at 8am, you will get Toenan chucked in FREE with pledges for this gang.

So let's just work that out. If you can get an early bird pledge at £90. Then add the £39 for Gangbangers, making you a Big Spender. You get 26 models (8 x Gangbanger, 7 x Soul Train, 7 x Murder Inc, Judas, Bobby B, Death and Alternate Siren) which is £5 a model.

That is Nuts!!

Up those pledges, there are a few early birds left but not many so time to invest and make sure we get to £18k by Monday at 8am!

When Moloch is THIS big, its kinda difficult not to bring a multitude of updates. You know this guy is included wherever Murder Inc. can be found in the pledge levels or on his own! Well if you didn't know, you do now!



So who is Moloch?

One of Satan's brood Moloch, known as the 'Bull' was instrumental in the destruction of Heaven. As an Angel, Moloch was titanic. Taller and broader than his kin, Moloch was a Juggernaut, a being of immensely destructive capabilities, hell bent on bringing ruin upon the Heavens and all that lay at its feet.

It was Moloch, along with the War Marshall Lucretia that hunted down, tortured and persecuted those still loyal to the Gods. Between them they accounted for a great many of 'The Lost'.

When Michael and the Righteous descended on pinions of retribution Moloch fought side by side with Satan, besting the mighty Gabriel before shimmer shifting with the stricken Satan before Michael could land the fatal blow.

Moloch and Satan were separated during the shift and Moloch plummeted into the Earth. As he lay there shattered and broken, the great Mage Marut came across him. Playing a cruel trick Marut used old blood magic and sacrifice to create a giant statue in parody of his war name, sealing the shattered fragments of Moloch within, where he would remain powerless, destined to be caged beast for eternity.

Were it not for mankind stumbling upon the effigy and building their civilisation around it, there Moloch may have remained. But as they worshipped the statue as a God, Moloch's power returned, slowly morphing him with his magical tomb, combining them to become a destructive and unstoppable force once more.



The Godmother is a very important character to the Gangbangers. She is based on a true character. When the mob were ruling in Italy, women were used and abused. One rose up and using her, shall we say "Wares" undertook a campaign of luring mob bosses and killing them, setting up a feminist movement which tried to tackle male dominance. Though it was short lived the story stuck with us. As you know at Purgatory we like to challenge the norm and develop characters that are a twist or spin on the stereotypical and norm.

The artwork is deliberately provocative. In the game the Godmother is an Apostle and is ranked amongst the foremost of St. Peter's lieutenants. The art demonstrates confidence and of course has a sexual nod to the fact that these women used what God gave em, so to speak. The Tommy gun is also a nod to the time period along with the pin stripe trousers, though they have taken on a more modern cut.

The briefcase symbolises what she is all about. As opposed to a sleazy, suited mob boss with paunch, panama hat and the usual gubbins, Godmother is a fresh take and demonstrates an empowered woman at the peak of her powers. In the game, she uses these to manipulate opposing characters to her own ends in reflection of what she may have been in real life.



Gought above is inspired by someone both Aidan and I know.... she's an absolute beauty as you can tell from the above. Though in truth she looks very little like this in real life.

The story of Gought is a troubled one and her commitment to the Refugees of Religion can never be called into question. Gought has children and they feature in Purgatory which makes it quite difficult. These children are not her own, instead caring for orphans at the sisterhood.

Gought is a brutish woman of considerable strength. When the Cathedral of Mon Cartaine was utterly destroyed, she emerged bloody and ragged, dragging the famous Sanctus Bell behind her and her sister superior over her dislocated shoulder. She now wields the bell, launching vehicles and people indiscriminately or rotating on the spot and spinning into large groups of people, mangling and breaking humans and beasts apart leaving nought but broken bones and blood soaked ground in her wake.

Despite her destructive capability, Gought is fiercely loyal and protective, particularly of Faith, whom Gought see's as a beacon of hope in mankind's salvation.

Over the coming days and weeks we will bring you more stories on how we designed these characters and how they play in game. These 3 characters all come from different factions. Moloch from Murder Inc, Godmother from Gangbangers and finally Gought from the RoR.

Moloch is available now as part of the pledge levels or as an add on. Godmother, you almost got your hands on and can be unlocked at £18k. Gought is a bit further on from that but by keeping Purgatory on the tongues of the gaming community with some luck and a tail wind, you will also be able to unleash the first 'good' faction in Purgatory!

That's exactly how I feel. Individually the Soul Train models are fantastic but as a gang it seems like a one note visual gag that went on far too long.

Who's who continued...

In the last update you found out about Moloch, Gought and the Godmother. This evening we bring you more information on the creation process and the character behind the model or art.

It was requested of use to show off the models in a video. We will do this and it will feature in the coming days, but to whet your appetite we have chosen to show one piece of art, one green and one painted so to mix it up a bit. So on to the characters...



This St Peter. The model was painted by Gary Devereaux and is straight out of the box. The model comes in 6 parts, the unique base that comes with each model, 2 arms, main body and the 2 wings. There is some nice detail here, the right hand has a cross being held in the wrist and the baseball bat has some nice barbed wire for detail. The suit has nice folds and the model is a great canvass to paint how you want him to be, ranging from pin stripes to full on white!

St Peter is the host of the Gangbangers. The design process was pretty simple, we took the typical image of St Peter, the guy who checks names outside of heaven gates and decides who gets in. The obvious spin was to make him a nightclub bouncer, allowing us to keep the 'if your name is not on the list.... you ain't coming in' vibe... Even St Peters rules have a realistic edge. He is able to separate models from combat should he wish to as one of his abilities, to "break it up guys" as any upstanding bouncer would.

St Peter is unaligned in Purgatory. By that I mean he doesn't want to call Satan to account for his transgressions, though equally he doesn't fancy going back to the chain outside of Heaven for another thousand or so years. So he set about uniting the most notorious gangsters from across the world to a common cause, the eradication of the Angels so that he could be the boss. It was that simple. So by having a presence in every major country, he was able to systematically target the Angels and attempt to exterminate them.



The lovely Jess is up next. Jess is from Murder Inc, which might sound surprising giving her alluring looks but don't be fooled. Jess is an ex stage actress, a truly global superstar. But she is greedy, greedy and powerful beyond all care. Unlike the Godmother that kills for noble reasons, such as her freedom from oppression. Jess welcomes it,desperately seeking out influential figures with money and power. When they have lost their use, Jess systematically strips them of their wealth and arranges yet another highly creative death for her former lover.

Her reputation proceeds her and though most men worth their salt know whats coming, they blindly wander into the web, ensnared by her guile and breathtaking looks.

Jess wields a giant hammer or mallet. Both of which were taken from a movie set where they featured as her weapon of choice. Though the mallet is a firm favourite, she is more likely to take to a skirmish with her spring loaded hammer. This can either launch a spring loaded boxing glove to smash her foe full in the face, or to launch an arc of grenades to blast her foes apart.



This lovely lady is Penemue, The Sentinel and Host of the Refugees of Religion and our first truly 'good' Angel. Penemue was charged by the Gods to watch over mankind, to nurture their education in all things from reading to war making. Though there were other angels such as Harut or Airiale that specialised in certain aspects such as lore making, magic and beast mastery Penemue was ultimately responsible for mankind's development.

When Satan and his followers destroyed Heaven, many amongst the betrayers set out to capture and break the Sentinel, the guardian of the Gods creation, for there could be no greater sin, nor prize.

Penemue evaded their grasp for long enough, with many Angels sacrificing themselves to keep her location from the circling predators, though Penemue is no slouch and is easily the match of the great war marshal Lucretia with a blade in hand, as many renegades found out. When Michael led the counter attack, Penemue was continuously at the forefront of the assault, standing side by side with the greatest of her kind, she was a whirlwind of boundless fury and devastation.

When Penemue discovered the fallen amongst mankind, she flew into such a rage that when she landed upon the Earth, shock waves of hatred permeated her immediate surroundings, forcing statues into life and giving birth to the Gargouilles.

Penemue is a beacon of hope that salvation is at hand for mankind and though her followers grow each day, they face a losing battle of attrition against those who would destroy mankind's faith and humanity entirely.

Purgatory reveals the latest models for the Kickstarter

Welcome back to the latest update. This week has been super busy for Purgatory. It saw the completion of the stunning Faith artwork by Dario, the completion of Moloch (which is HUGE) by Didier, the completion of Jack by Lux along with the resin insert base for Erishkigal being started.

Let's kick this off!



He is finished. Many weeks of hard work has gone into Moloch and we are thrilled with the end result, we are sure you agree and even better, you can get this AND 14 other models including Jack below for £90!

Designer Notes: When you create range of models and one clearly stands out amongst the rest, it requires some serious thought. We are grateful to work with some very helpful sculptors that helped us along the way with this one. We wanted to have and Angel that was more and less of an Angel in equal measure, so by removing the wings and his ability to fly Moloch became something more entirely.

The model comes with the child being hung upside down in the bottom right arm as you look at it, as well as the unfortunate little souls trapped in the inferno that is Moloch's core. the attention to detail here is fantastic and offers a painting challenge to various skill sets and lets gamers field a massive great minotaur to tower over the battlefield.





This Jack! Jack is the prophet of Murder Inc, deadly in close combat Jack gains a bonus if he attacks in the Melee without line of sight, this represents his ability to leap from the shadows and slash his foes into grizzly ribbons. Jack is a Devil, giving him the benefits of this type of character and he is the first in the game. Jack is deadly in combat wielding a chainsaw which is his modern day replacement for his trusty blade. Jack will come with a unique resin insert, like all of the other models. Jacks will have some rope like intestines pooled around his base in grim parody and as a nod the character he was based on.

Designer notes: When we created Jack we had to do something different, We gave him a Sherlock style clock as a parody and a policeman's helmet for blatant mockery. Instead of his trust blade, he's upgraded to a full on chainsaw and replacing his traditional doctors briefcase, he has again modernised and plumped for the backpack which make him slightly more agile and making those tools of torture oh so much easier to reach.





I think you will agree, some of the artwork that we have commissioned for this project are exceptional. Not only are we fortunate to have some talented sculptors by the artists really bring it home as well.

Designer Notes: When we created the Refugees of Religion a number of characters kind of made themselves. Mother T and Heng-Lo but Faith, who is pictured in the above was created by her back story. We wanted to have a Nun that was an introvert but was truly full of a combination of Zeal and Fury. That Faith is a female name anyway, it added more potency to her character. In her backstory, with the convent torn to ashes by the Fallen Angel Uvall, Faith wandered the batted streets of her home town, where stumbled across a plaza where riot police lay around her battered, shattered and broken. the first she came across was a young girl, clearly dead but had died crying as tears had stained her blood and soot smoked face.

So empowered by this tragedy, Faith reverently removed the girls riot gear, daubing the crucifixion cross on the helmet and daubing her riot shield with blood from each fallen police officer in the plaza. Emblazoned upon her shield her foes would know the name of their doom as she raced towards them with her taser batten!

The story of Faith brings us seamlessly onto the campaign. One of the recent bout of comments on our page has been to ask about how we can get the campaign moving once more as it is clear people out there want to get involved with the project. One of the suggestions was to show you the artwork for characters that could be unlocked by progressing our campaign and supporting it.

It seems only right to start withe Refugees of Religion. In the last update we talked about Penemue who is the Host of this faction. One of the biggest groups in purgatory, Penemue has gathered all manner of people to her cause, ranging from brides widowed on their wedding day, to choir boys and a girl raver that used to attend illegal raves at the abandoned local church!

Designer Notes: In game these lot are quite useful, with people able to create static turrets and stone gargoyles that can taunt and hold strong characters in combat with a high defence. Buffs are very prominent in this faction and it pays to stay close together.



Next up is the Gangbangers. These are the next stretch goal after the £16,500 stretch that lays before us. These characters work with St Peter who is their Host. We talked about St.Peter in the last update and explained how he works.

Designer notes: The Gangbangers are a collection of individuals and gang heads from some of the most notorious gangs in the world. This group is exception diverse and as highlighted in the backstory of the Godmother, some of the backstories are really good and full of detail. As creators we have a soft spot for this faction as they are so diverse with a multitude of cultures and styles that we have been able to bring together under a common theme which is something we have not seen before.



So, are you looking forward to the Gangbangers or to the Refugees of religion? If you are, get involved and support the project. The sooner we can get these factions unlocked, we will be including some of these models so that they become available to buy as a group and individually.

Q&A With Purgatory

Small Paul is an Apostle in the world of Purgatory and is aligned to the Parlour Tricks faction within our world, though he can be used as a Mercenary in any faction. Paul is quite tricky and has the ability to re-position your forces mid game, which is exceptionally handy to say the least.

Moving into the last 7 days

Dear Backer,

Thank you for your continued support. As we move into the end game now we want to really have last push for Purgatory so we are ramping things up to give you the most amount of value.

In the last week, anybody increasing their pledge will receive a KS exclusive set of Halloween Gift of the Gods cards, these cards will come with all pledges over £10.

In addition, and here is the big one. We want to get these models unlocked so that you can get a hold of the Gangbangers and the models that currently sit at the stretch goal targets.
