Holy Terra.

So, im doing a post-scouring diorama for the October Unofficial Painting Comp here on Dakka. It includes a World Eater rushing towards two wounded scouts, one of which will be raising its Bolter in a last act of defiance, while the other one fires at the traitor from his perch on top of a small hill.

So, the World Eater will be painted in the traditional Pre-Heresy white/blue, but i don't know what to paint the Scouts as. Preferably something that contrasts well to the white and blue. And something with available transfers or a symbol thats easy to free hand. So im asking you...

My sources are the Apocrypha of Davio and the Space Marine codex.

Some more info on the Diorama:

The scouts have been modeled with hoods (I hate the stock scout heads) and the World Eater has been completly re-posed, with Horus Heresy and WoC weapons.

I actually voted Blood Angels, because I think it's interesting that you'll use the original color scheme for the World Eaters, so maybe some sort of irony in a WE killing red marines before he himself became a red marine.

I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

I would probably say Dark Angels because the deep green will contrast with the white and hooded scouts makes sense for them

Black Templars, because two berserk maniacs (even scouts) duking it out is more fun than some Ultrasmurf hiding their face and crying for their Spiritual Liege.

Known for their Scouts, and you could even fluff it as being part of the Istvaan V battle.
