make sure they are, though. Check you're buying a 24ml for that, not a 12ml

I don't like the new size of them. Took me all of an hour to spill half a bottle of nuln oil on my desk. I wish they had made them wider and not just taller.

Do you still have your old wash pots? I have my bigger Nuln Oil sat on a shelf securely and half of it has been poured into the smaller pot.

For me, the bigger problem is that they're 30% bigger but more than twice the price of the functionally identical Army Painter inks.

Yeah it somewhat baffled me. GW went from being somewhat competitive on a price per pot basis to being noncompetitive on both price per pot AND price per volume.

Also while I like GW washes, I find in GW's crappy bottles they degrade over time. Not sure if the big ones have the same problem though.

Easy solution: Paint faster

Or just buy from a company that doesn't use horrible pots

Some washes I go through quickly, brown mostly, everything else it takes me a while to work my way through a pot and I don't want to have to repurchase them all the time because of terrible pots.

There's double the amount of paint in these new washes, 24ml instead of 12ml

For certain colours I don't mind the larger bottles. I use Nuln Oil, Agrax Earthshade and Seraphim Sepia rather often... But the other shades could have remained in the smaller bottles IMO.

I put a knob of blu-tac into the curve at the bottom of the pot so I can stick it to the desk/mat I'm working at.

They diluted the old ones years ago and now repackaged it again in the new big ones. Makes sense sort of you will need more now t but I would rather have the concentrated stuff.

I hate the big new pots. I do use the washes a lot, so having a larger quantity of them is fine, but I'd much rather buy two of the smaller pots than one big one. Like Rotary, I knocked over a full pot of Nuln Oil not long after I bought it. Also, it's true that no-one needs a 24ml pot of Fuegan Orange or Casandora Yellow, or most of the coloured washes, to be honest. Unless you're painting an army that particular colour, the only way you're going to use up all of one of the big pots of shade is, well, if you knock it over. It also puts me off trying the new gloss shades. I would quite like to try out the gloss nuln oil on some Skitarii, but I don't want to pay a fiver for a massive pot of something I might not even like.

I mean, I did buy one anyway because I have no willpower, but I grumbled internally about it on my way out the shop. So far I've used it to give one miniature greasy hair.

I bought one accidentally (--> thought it was the regular one) and I'm not convinced. But I might have used it incorrectly so far...

Someone told me to give it a coat of matt varnish to remove the sheen. That confused the hell out of me. Why would you use gloss, then want to remove the glossiness...

Even when I'm using a matte shade I often mix stuff in to make it flow better that takes away the matte finish and requires a varnish.

The gloss varnishes have a bit more contrast than the matte ones out of the bottle, so if that's the effect you want you may want a gloss varnish.

I also don't like how the new tall pots are more susceptible to being knocked over.

As a solution, I take the new bottles of 24ml, and pour half into a dropper for airbrush, and half into an old 12ml mini-pot (or repurposed empty lahmian medium pot)

I think they work better then Army Painter honestly. AP doesnt seem to get into the crevices as well from my experiences.

I need Fuegan Orange for my Shaltari army but I think 24ml is too much.

The easiest solution to the taller pots is to transfer some of the wash onto a palette, and then close the pot and set it to the side. Use what's on your palette, and then get more if you need to.

I do this with the old bottles too...and every paint I use to boot, lol. Didn't know there were people that painted directly from the bottles, how do they thin the paints?!

If it's the consistency I want out of the pot, then I just use it out of the pot.

With washes it's more of a hassle to use a palette as they dry quite quickly, I only do it if I want the wash to be even thinner than it is in the bottle.

I wash my work area more than my models, even with the old pots. Best tip is to put prestic or bluetak it to a larger cutting board inorder to prevent it from being bumped over.
