Hi all,

New project for me as I happened to be bought a Start Collecting Space Marines out of the blue!

Years ago I did a whole army in a solid colour so I didn't want to do that again so I thought...what can I do....

I came up with Novamarines! For those who don't know, this is an Ultramarine successor chapter which has a quartered colour scheme...blue and white/bone (I have seen both), I've personally gone for bone as its more interesting than just plain white.

Based on http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Novamarines the colours go as follows...

Bone quarters
------------------
BASE: Rakarth Flesh
WASH: Seraphim Sepia
LAYER: Pallid Wych Flesh
HIGHLIGHT: White Scar

Blue quarters
------------------
BASE: Macragge Blue
WASH: Drakenhof Nightshade
LAYER: Macragge Blue
HIGHLIGHT: Calgar Blue

Shoulder trim is gold like Ultramarine, eyes look green(?) and the Aquilla should be silver.

I haven't yet decided on whether to undercoat in white or black...or if it even makes a difference. On my test model I used white as I thought it would be better for the Rakarth Flesh to cover but then when I was thinking about more complex miniatures like the dreadnought, which is going to have deep recesses, it could be better to undercoat in black to save worrying about them.

I've been working on a really really really rough test model which is below - bear in mine that I have not filled in all the details nor done any highlighting.

Colors look solid.

I just cringe at the thought of doing more than 3 or 5 of them

I used Rakarth Flesh for cloaks etc. and noticed it covers black undercoat pretty well.

I've been having more time spent on them.

I actually made a mistake and the layer was Screaming Skull. However, I've decided that this is just too "dusty" (that or my paint is screwed!).

I've now bought some Ushabti Bone which I'll try instead.

I should have some more pics by this evening. I'm doing up 3 more tacticals and have made a start on the venerable dreaddy.

EDIT:
Starting to come together...looks rough still but I haven't tidied up the edges yet
