The colors and the finish are great, but I would argue that they are a bit more cartoony looking than realistic, but that's not a bad thing. The mud and dust are nice, but the rust and scratches are a bit stark. Some filters and a little more texture to the flat surfaces would blend all those weathering effects into the large surfaces very nicely.

I can see where you're coming from it does catch the eye and make you wish it looked likethe others. But if you think about gaming with these its the kind of thing a player will use to distinguish their HQ transport from the others or that will make it easier to tell which vehicle has what loadout if they're set up differently.
I painted a squadron of RAF Hurricanes recently with as much historical accuracy as possible and as a result they were all identical apart from the codes on the sides. Could I tell the aces from the green pilots in game? Not a chance. Uniformity is not always desirable.
Yes, that's a totally viable alternative to no stripes at all while maintaining some distinction. Great option.
Although, come to think of it, as far as "realism" goes... Do tanks in battlefield conditions sport bright industial safety hazard strips on their dozer blades?
I know, its an established imperial guard style thing and the realism in question is more In the painting, which is really excellent and very true to life.
Also you could have a upside down v like on some American tanks hAve on side of the hull.
Little marks to make stand out
Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.
FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
