Black knights are basically my most favourite unit in 40K. So, I wanted to build a list based on them.

A point to note, I know how much of a hard time AV13-14 could give this list. Along with fliers. I have a plan - ignore them and grab objectives whilst jinking....

So, new list.

Interrogator chaplain, bike, mace of redemption
Librarian, level 2, bike, force axe, auspex
Librarian, level 2, bike, force axe, shroud of heros.

Command squad - 6 black knights, includes apothecary, ravenwing banner, champion and grenade launcher

5 black knights, 1 grenade launcher
5 black knights, 1 grenade launcher
5 black knights, 1 grenade launcher
5 black knights, 1 grenade launcher
5 black knights, 1 grenade launcher

I know you like the theme. But I'd seriously consider swapping out one of the Knights squads for a max/max bike squad. 6 bikes, 2 melta guns, and an attack bike with a multi-melta. You can combat squad it so you get 2 (or 3 if you give the sergeant a combi-melta) melta guns in a squad. A squad of "fodder" bikers that have twin-linked boltguns that you can use to screen the attack bike. The squad comes out at +/- 240 points and will get rid of your anti armour fears.

Hunting the fallen since 998.M2.

I wouldn't bother with that many grenade launchers honestly.

Yes this list will do well competitively against many armies and you have the tools to beat even more, but at least one competitor at every tournament will shut this down.

Many think Tau hard counter Ravenwing with their Ignores cover, but you can kill all their markerlights pretty quickly. The best way to counter Jink saves is close combat.

In my Ravenwing experience, multiple imperial knights may be the worst matchup, followed by demons. I haven't played against one of those new dog deathstars but they prolly beat everything. What these armies have in common are multiple very mobile and hard hitting assault units that aren't easily shot off the board. Some Deathstars can be outmaneuvered, Tyranids and orks are difficult but beatable. That Ravenguard detachment that charges out of drop pods is mean but still p rare.

The best part about playing Ravenwing is countering Eldar HARD. Ignore the wraithknight and cover the board so the jetbikes and warp spiders have nowhere to hide, then chase them down.

Anyway Black Knights work best in small units of three or four models, and you don't need many grenade launchers. Hope that helps!

Unfortunately, many Eldar players these days take the Skathach version of the Wraithknight, which fires those huge template weapons. No cover save there. I recently faced a list of Eldar with Dark Eldar allies, including a Skathach WK and a unit of Wraithguard and an Archon with Webway Portal. Those Wraithguard dropped right next to my RW Command Squad and just erased it with their templates. So, while I'd say Ravenwing are generally good against Eldar, they are far from a hard counter.

On topic, I think in this list I'd swap a couple of those units of Black Knights for like three units of regular bikes with either Grav or Melta. Grav is pretty handy against almost anything, and you still have your bolters for the stuff that grav sucks against (like Daemons).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

What's your feelings on the command squad ? Is a larger command squad with the apoth wort it, or just best to keep Black Knights MSU ?

oh yeah a command squad of 5-6 models with apothecary is a great place for HQ to survive turn one and get into position for turn 2 charge. Champion is fine, banner is optional; I don't take one.
