I've recently caught some episodes of Black Mirror (a show that explores the dark side of technology) on Netflix and noticed how similar it was to the Twilight Zone. Black Mirror is more niche due to its focus on technology but otherwise the stories have a Twilight Zone vibe to them, especially the episode "White Bear".

So, to those of you who have seen both series, which do you like better? Are there any episodes of Black Mirror that break out of the Twilight Zone mold and stand out for it? Is the focus on technology too limiting or did the Twilight Zone get too silly with story premises because they included the supernatural? I'm still going through the series so I haven't found all the "gems" yet. I'd be interested in comparing those episodes to the Twilight Zone's gems and seeing how they compare.

I must admit that I'm not a fan of every episode but, sadly, this seems to be a thing with me and British television shows. Blame public education for that if you want.

Also you should look to the Outer Limits. Thats Twilight Zone but all sci fi kind of stuff. The original works included the ideas for things like The Terminator.

I never really liked the Outer Limits the way I liked Twilight Zone. I'm not sure why but I just never got into it.

I haven't watched enough Twilight Zone to give a good comparison between them, but I can vouch for Black Mirror; it's a great show.

My note concerns the black and white series-I have seen the new ones. I too liked the Twilight Zone better.

Anything Charlie Brooker touches is great. With the exception of The Last Leg by Adam Hills (who's a bloody Aussie!), his Screen Wipe and News Wipe programs are as close as we in the UK get to the satire shows that the US has in abundance.
Black Mirror is his polished, dark, satirical heart at its best.

Haven't seen 'Black Mirror' yet, now I'm intrigued. The 'Twilight Zone' was ground breaking and had Rod Serling, one of the coolest cats out there!

I would have to say that the Twilight Zone is the superior show. The episodes have withstood the test of time and are still great relevant tv now, they had talented actors, incredible writing and Rod Sterling. Most importantly the Twilight Zone did it first, it was ground breaking at a time when it was very difficult to be different and there were literally no other shows like it but it spawned copycats almost immediately with shows like The Outer Limits, etc. Black Mirror is a good series but it's had decades of other series doing similar shows on similar themes so it's good but not ground breaking and it's building on an existing genre.

never heard of Black Mirror so my votes with Twilight zone, outer limits was ok, but it didn't have the twist like twilight Zone did.

Well I don't think Black Mirror would exist with Twilight Zone so if I have to choose between two things that I really don't see a reason to have to choose between I guess I would have to go with Twilight Zone.

Never saw much of TTZ but BM was hit and miss for me. Had some really great episodes and then others that were simply meh.

you may have seen the Twilight Zone or rip-offs of it without realizing it, the show had such an effect on the TV generation it has insinuated itself into many shows and even cartoons and such.

Original. Later series is decent but the original was groundmaking. Plus...as said Rod Serling.
