Hi Dakka-friends. I wan't to build fast attack units for my Chaos Cultist, but I cant find the right look of vehicle. I'm looking for scrambler style bikes, trikes or quads, and jeeps similar to the Warthog out of Halo. I was thinking Mad Max for the overall aesthetic. Does anyone where I can get suitable miniatures. I'm a fairly accomplished sculptor and can handle my green stuff and plasticard. So a bit of converting is no trouble. I just need the right models to get me started. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cool I'll take a look. Thanks. Any Ideas on dirt bikes?

Yes. the Tauros and Tauros Venator are defiately solid contenders for the jeep option. I'll have to low tech the weapons and give it improvised armour. I like those models.

The ork warbikers (minus the shooty guns) could be suitable - they're far 'lighter' than e.g. marine bikes, and you could probably keep the ork legs and arms, just changing the torsos and heads.

The Orks would make great mutant bikers give'm some horns and spikey bits, hell the brackets for the big shootaz would be a perfect fit for autoguns and heavy stubbers.

Those minis from ramshackle are great. Totaly Mad Max/Book of Eli. Hardly need any work, a head swap here a torso swap there. Give em some culist weapons and the're ready to go.

Thanks guys some solid suggestions. If you find anything else I should take a look at let me know I'm gonna need a mutant warboss and a cultist gang leader unique sets of weels so some realy custom rides for them. Thanks again friends will be liking your replies

For that warboss, see if you can't find some spikes, or even just cut up some sprues for 'em. Wrap a bit of green stuff so it looks like a cheap welding job, and Bob's your uncle.

Sounds like you found some good ideas. I was going to go with the ork bike conversion thing. You might also seek some old Gorka Morka stuff. That was pretty much road warrior on an ork planet...The chopper front end is great. Hey, if you get some of these going share please. I like the idea here.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

I'll keep posting as the project progresses. As I finish a unit. I'll post pictures and put the rules on the site. Then people can look at the minis and the rules for them. Then they post comments of their own, that way I'll know the rules are fun and fair before they go in the Codex:

Thanks again for all the help and ideas, it realy is appreciated.

Yes, the wartrakk model (first released as part of Gorks Morka) is horribly ancient and undetailed, and the figures are terrible, but it still makes a great conversion base for a motortrike, either leaving the back tracks as is or replacing the rear with wheels and a big-ass engine.

Sounds like it could work for the Coyote. The four fast attack units in the Codex: available to cultist are the Jackal a dirt bike fitted with a twin-linked auto-gun, the Dust Hound, which is a quad fitted with a twin-linked heavy stubber, the Coyote, a trike the front half with the rider is armed with a twin-linked auto-gun and at the back there is a foot plate for a standing passenger who mans a pinion rail with either a twin-linked heavy stubber, a heavy flamer or a cluster frag launcher and finally there's the hyena which is a three man jeep armed with hull mounted auto-gun in front of the driver, on the passenger side there's a 90 degree pinion rail with a heavy stubber and up top there's a pintle-mounted twin-linked heavy stubber, heavy flamer or cluster frag launcher.

I was unaware of the Coyote (don't have the codex), but yeah, sounds a good match for the wartrakk with a crew swap and some added detailing.

For the Dust Hound, a marine bike is relatively easy to convert into a 4-wheeled version.

The ancient Gorka Morka 'trukk' was terrible as a trukk model, but would actually make a decent conversion base for a Hyena.

Hmm, coincidence that ork models are good matches for most of these choices? No idea whether GW or FW plan on official models...

Clang you mis understand I my self am writing a fan created Codex: with all the rules as they are for units that already exist for current units from Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons as well as formations from Apoc and so on, but then I'm adding new Cultist units like the ones in this thread. then converting over rules for Traitor Guard, Dark Mechanicum, Chaos Knights, some Corrupted Inquisitors and Dark Ministorum all based on their Imperil counterparts. And all new army lists nd units for beastmen and mutants. I'll be building converting and painting the representative miniatures. then posting the rules once people have got something then I let everyone following the project discuss the rules and add there imput before they go into the finnished Codex: Check my Wanderer in the Eye thread for progress reports and to leave ideas for what you would like to see come to 40K Chaos.

For bikes, you could consider Space Marine Scout Bikes. I've seen a picture of some AM Rough Riders on converted versions of these and they looked pretty good. I would think you could make them look pretty good with Chaos Cultists as well.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Yes there are the ones from Games Workshop and the outrider bikes from Forge World. Wow at this rate I could have a hundred bikes and none of them be based on the same model. Thanks Clang and ZergSmasher for yet more solid ideas.

Yeh there are loads in the Adeptus Ministorum and Ordo Hereticus fluf but no solid rules slowing you to portray them on the table top for when they go rogue and join Chaos. I know John Blanche features them in Blanchitsu for his skirmish game, but I want to give them fair and balanced rules for using the Inquisitory Hereticus in far larger armies. I don't really do small scale projects. Anyway this is getting way offpoint. If you want to discuss this further. Post something to the Wanderer in the Eye thread and I'll get right back to you.
