I love terminators. Is there any codex that allows me to use them as troops and have objective secured?

Pretty sure the 7th Ed. Dark Angels codex removed Belial's 'make Deathwing Terminators Troops' rule, unfortunately.

It's basically Grey Knights and that's it. The closest you'll get besides that are Detachments and Formations that allow you to take Terminators as your compulsory choices; however I can't recall of any such Detachments/Formations that give Objective Secured.

I would like to add Chaos space marines to that list now that traitor's hate is out. You could have an all terminator army, but not all with objective secured.

The only way to get objective secured on terminators for csm is if you buy them in a warband formation, this would include other non termie units mind you.
Outside of that you can take them as mandatory units in purge detachment or in like 3-4 different formations.

Chao's Warband formation? It is definitely everyone Obsec, and it has optional slot for Chaos Terminators, but I am not 100% sure on my later claim.

I had forgotten about that one, though it does require a pretty hefty tax in basic Chaos Space Marines, Raptor/Bikers and Havocs/Helbrutes first.

Not really the answer you're looking for, but just to add it in for anyone else that may find it useful: 30K legion armies using the Pride of the Legion rite of war can take terminators as troops.

You can thank 7th for making it so you cant turn elites, or fast attack into troops which was one of the stupider things they did in 7th.

To many unpainted models to count.

CSM still have that, though not for terminators, bu the purge detachment kinda makes up for that by making elites mandatory rather than troops. Of course that means no objective secured.

Yeah, being Troops does not always automatically equate to Objective Secured any more.

And if the Terminators can wipe out the unit on the Objective, it doesn't matter if they can Secure it or not.

That's disappointing. I field models because I think they are cool and terminators are by far my favorite foot troope in the game.

It does 1-3 Chosen/Termie/ Possesed

2 CSM

1-3 Bikers/Raptors/Talons

1-3 Havocs/Helbrutes

It can actually be brought for fairly cheap only 480ish points for bare bones everything. He could bring 2 and have 6 Termie squads plus 8 support type squads all with Obsec. and still be under 1500 points.

I thought space wolves could field a terminator army also.

Correct, although ObSec is very powerful, the lack of ObSec can be mitigated. You just have to be more diligent in cleaning out pesky troops and movement blocking objectives. For example, if you make a circle or line around an objective, you can prevent another model/unit from moving to within 3" and it won't matter if they are ObSec or not.

That being said, currently I believe the only armies that can get ObSec Terminators are Chaos (Black Crusade Detachment and you still have to take other stuff) and Grey Knights. Grey Knights do alright with Terminators and Dreadknights if you want to go that route.

Other than that, there are ways to build all terminator armies out of the various Space Marine codicies, but they won't be ObSec.

- 1st Company Task Force
- Deathwing (Except you'll need something on the table Turn 1 because they have to start in reserve)
- Blood Angel's have a detachment that can be all terminators I believe.
- Space Wolves Company of the Great Wolf (Compulsory Elite slots can be Wolf Guard Terminators)

And I think you can do a majority of terminators with Deathwatch as well, but you'll have some power armor floating around too.

As a regular Terminator player, I wouldn't worry too much about obsec.

If they're contesting with an obsec unit (typically Windriders, Gladius Razorbacks etc) you can punch them out easily enough in one turn.

Terminators are slow too, and are bad at getting from/too objectives - especially missions with progressive objectives where you score ever turn (Maelstrom).
In fact, if you do play Maelstrom, I highly recommend not playing completely pure Terminator lists. You'll want some other units in for speed.
SW - Thunderwolf Cav
DA - Ravenwing bikers/speeders
BA - Fast Rhino/Razors and jumpers
GK - Dreadknights and Interceptors.
SM - Bikers
