Hi All,

Quick question as I haven't played a game since 5th ed just mainly into P&M now.

I was looking to put together a proper army but the Detachments in the codex have confused the hell out of me.

Do you have to take a Cult Insurrection Detachment

Can you have more than one magus in your army some how?

If so please tell. Id like to run 2 Doting Throng Detatchments, Cult Mutants Detachment and a Lords of the Cult Detatchment.

Thank you for your time,
Hamilkah

First off, read the section in the core rule book regarding detachments and building your army, it's one of the more straightforward to understand sections.

You don't have to run a Cult Insurrection Detachment, or any specific detachment for that matter, so if you those formations you've listed and outside of a CID you can have as many of the 4 HQ choices as you want.

The formations in the book are advanced warfare options. You can use a standard CAD with 1-2 hq, 2-6 troop, 0-3 Elites, fast, heavy. As normal.

If you have the models the cult Insurrection Detachment is super fun to use and has some great benefits.

You can field as many detachments as you want in a battleforged army but you need to follow the instructions to use the cult Insurrection.

You need one core which is brood cycle or neonates cavalcade. Then you need at least one axillary like your doting throng or subterranean uprising. You can have 0-3 command like your lords of the cult or 1st curse. The big thing is you can only have one of each hq within the cult Insurrection as a whole. This means you will need to add a CAD outside the Insurrection to get extra hq's. Take a look at the army list section there are several examples.
