One of the problems I see with genestealer cult is that with MSU they'd be very unlikely to do well in any format that makes kill-points a big deal (e.g. ETC style missions). So I'm turning my usual strategy on its head to make an extremely low-KP genestealer cult force that will hopefully stick around due to the patriarch's fearless bubbles. The patriarchs would probably roll on telepathy for invis/shrouding and access to shriek.

CAD

Patriarch 90pts
Patriarch 90pts

20 acolytes with 1 rock saw 185pts (patriarch joins)
20 acolytes with 1 rock saw 185pts (patriarch joins)

Subterranean uprising

20 Acolytes with 1 rock saw 185pts
20 Acolytes with 1 rock saw 185pts
20 acolytes 160pts
10 metamorphs with claws 110pts
10 metamorphs with claws 110pts
10 metamorphs with claws 110pts

First curse
Patriarch + 20 genestealers 350pts

Spore field (doesn't count as kill points when destroyed, and can respawn!)

3 mines 15pts
3 mines 15pts
3 mines 15pts
Mucolid 15pts
Mucolid 15pts
Mucolid 15pts

Any thoughts? I'd aiming for flat-out competitive here so how would this hold out against the various wraithknights, riptides and deathstars out there?

And use brood coven? I think that is very good formation in big units.

For example you can take brood cycle, with 3 big units of acolytes (with standard) and without the CAD, and first curse, and lesser subterranean uprisng units, you cand add 3 formations of brood coven.

*This year in ETC kill points will be less important.

I did consider it... I eventually went for a CAD to get more fearless-giving patriarchs into the list. I figure that morale might be more crucial in armies with a few BIG squads? I think there are multiple viable ways to run it though

I'd be very glad if the ETC wasn't quite so strict on kill points. At the last tournament I went to, two games were decided on kill points after I'd destroyed significantly more of the enemy force than they had of mine... I feel like bringing high KP lists has multiple stacked negatives. For example you're punished by some maelstrom cards (say if your opponent draws 'destroy 3 units' then it's far easier for him to do so if you have 30 units on the table)

I think youre really weaking yourself by not taking the Insurrection detachment, its so lethal.
Patriarch hasnt impressed me to consider needing more than one, each of the other HQs bring a great buff bubble so i suggest getting them in there.

Big units invested in the Subterranean = excellent.

I like First Curse, even more Genestealers would be a good addition, theyre so good now.
