Hi Dakka,

i'm building a Stormtrooper army right now, allied with(mh.. lets say more: under control of ) an Inquisitor(Xeno).
The list should be fluffy in those terms. That means i dont want to have an allied Eldar Autarch for reserve rolls, it should be Factions/units an inquisitor is able to command in for suicide missi.. uhh.. reinforcements.
But still playable, semi-competitive, i have to go mostly against "friendly" Tau/Necron lists.

1x Inquisitor(servo skulls)

2x Stormtrooper CADs, each:

2xHQ Command squads
2xTroops Stormtroopers

1x Emperors Apear Aerial Company Formation:
1 Valkyrie
2 Vendettas

Since i plan to start with basically nothing on the board except Inquisitor i plan to add either:
-his personal Landraider, add some CC Henchman and equip him for CC
-his personal Imperial Knight
to survive the first round.

-Maybe add an assassin (Callidus or Vindicare)

The problem is that i need some reliable Reserve Manipulation, I read of Comms Relay in the core Rulebook, but how do i organize it in my FOC? Which supplement book do i need to buy for it? Also it doesnt really fit with the rest of the mobile army concept, i dont really like it.
I was also thinking of adding Imperial Guard allies for Officer of the Fleet, but an Orders Test on Ld 7 is FAR from reliable...
Also i think the Codex:Stormtrooper Airborne Formation is nice but.. i really want Vendettas for antiair and antitank, also i think its not enough special weepons(+commissar tax..)

Any ideas?

thanks alot!

Play D99 instead? You don't have carapace armour on your troops but you've got BS4 airborne Ordo Xenos troops and pseudo-Drop Pod Assault on your Valkyries. Also with half your army showing up automatically turn one you don't need to break the mobile/airborne concept by adding a Knight/LR.

(The comms relay fits in the fortification slot of one of the MT CADs, if you can find Stronghold Assault or the 6e core book it was printed there. A Guard Navy officer should be making Orders on the Company Commander's Ld9 (and if the Inquisitor is hanging with that squad it's Ld10), that shouldn't be an issue. Any MT army is going to be too few special weapons, the AP3 tax makes MT troops grotesquely overpriced and generally useless since you're still S3.)

Try taking a flyer wing from dfts to get +2 to reserves

If you don't mind space marines, Lias issodon and some scouts come pretty cheap for what you get. Lias rules are free from Forgeworld. He does allot for these kinda armies.

That's not a terrible idea. Give Lias a retinue of Devastator Centurions, a cheap kinda fighty character with TSE, get some scouts for capturing objectives, and Infiltrate Lias + Centurions (hopefully rolling a 2-3 to get the EW character) as close as possible. Then hold all scions in reserves and make use of that delicious Homing Beacon he has.

I've done that with LotD, so I expect the same results, but with more spammed special weapons and more dead guys.

Just a heads up slayer, master of ambush now straight up infiltrates 3 units and the warlord, no need to roll a d3, like the previous version.

It is quite good..

A character coming stock with it, is just great.

I guess I've been confusing it as partially like the CSM one. Whoops.

Time to make more power builds then!
