Psychic Prisoner aboard a Black Ship
|
Sorry if this has been discussed, I did a search but didn't see anything. My question is what ever happened to the ship that the Emperor used to get around during the Great Crusade? I believe the upcoming Custodes book cover shows the ship in question here:
It was said to be absolutely massive, so where did it go?

This is the first time I've heard of it. It almost makes me worried we might see a parallel to the Lusankya Super Star Destroyer (buried for millenia underneath a city, turned on, and revealing itself by destroying hundreds of square kilometers of buildings it was buried under) to explain why Custodes are suddenly appearing in battles outside of Terra in the 41st millenium.

I assume that after Ullanor it brought him back to Terra, but after that, who knows.....

Ha, yeah. Hope they never have an itch on their face. Must be a pain.
Anyone read anymore about the Emperor's flying palace in the HH series?

IIRC correctly in Mechanicum novel it arrives over Mars and the Emp descends from it. Cant recall the exact description though.
In that pic, could that be the Phalanx though? Or an orbital weapons platform?

That is not the Emperor's ship nor is it the Phalanx. It is one of the floating city plates that move across Terra and are for adding additional area to build structures and house populations upon.
It is detailed in the story, Hands of the Emperor, when one of these city plates moves over the Imperial Palace, leading to a conflict of jurisdictions between the Adeptus Custodes and the Imperial Fists.

One wonders how the air quality is in the 41st millennium given that most of these cities appear to be at significant elevations. The Imperial palace is located where Everest once stood, isn't it?

I think Everest was where the Emperor had his secret Laboratory (specifically where he developed the Primarch project), rather than where he set up his Imperial Palace.
I could easily be wrong, though.

I believe the Himalayas were used. The palace goes all through them. Automatically Appended Next Post: The ship was huge, the pistons for the ramp of one of the gates of the spaceship were larger than a titan (I don't believe it says which type). This thing is described as being a "mighty floating city of gold, its dimensions enormous beyond imagining.....and "even the mightiest forge temple of Mondus Gamma paled in comparison to the scale of this vessel."
I mean, this thing doesn't just disappear, and yet there is no mention of it in the later HH books, unless I missed it somehow. I don't hear about it coming into play in the defense of Terra, yet it was the Emperor's spaceship. I must know what happened to this thing!

It's called the somnium imperator. It pops up in the first heretic, too, and is the ship he teleports angron up to before dumping him on the conqueror.
if I had to guess, I'd assume that the phalanx and somnium will be taking on the trisagion and blessed lady - the two remaining furious abyss class superbattleships - which would explain where they were and why they weren't at the siege of terra.

Ah, thank you for the name. I've read The First Heretic but I guess I need to read it again. Thanks for the info. I hope the authors writing the HH series tell what happened to it.

I suspect thats the sky palace. It was shot down by the Death's Head Titan Legion while trying the pull the WS out of which ever space port they were holding.
Its mentioned in Bill Kings HH short.
