I stumbled upon the Dread Elves Princess model from the Avatars of War range during one of my trips to my
FLGS, and although I don't play Dark Elves/Aelfs in Age of Sigmar, I definitely wanted to find some use for this model. And what better use for a dreadful Aelf with a miniature DRAGON than a Halloween gift for my girlfriend?
After -very subtly- asking my girlfriend what colours she'd like to see (she only knew that the model was female), I took this Princess to the painting table...
As you can probably tell, she asked me to paint at least one of the parts in a gradient from blue to purple - which was easier said than done, given that I've never painted a gradient before! It's not 100% perfect, but she was very happy with it, so I guess I must've gotten it somewhat right
As for the model itself, it was a joy to paint but rather horrendous to put together. Metal models and I have never seen eye-to-eye, which resulted in a somewhat frustrating session of me trying (and failing) to put this blasted Aelf together, only for me to drop it mid-painting, snapping all parts off again
To prevent said catastrophe of repeating itself, I mounted her on a second, larger base, which was easier to hold and gave me some more options basing-wise
Anyhow, she's finished now, and my girlfriend's happy with her, which means I'm
very happy
