FORCES

CAD
Sanguinary priest (Warlord with initiative +1)
5man tactical squad with meltagun, combi-melta and melta bombs in a rhino
5man tactical squad with heavy flamer
5man assault squad with jump packs and veteran sergeant with a power sword

Baal strike force
Death company chaplain (Warlord with a master crafted Crozius Arcanum)
Cassor the damned
5man scout squad + 5x sniper rifle
5man death company with jump packs and a power fist

MISSION

Eternal war : The Relic - Randomizing deployment zones : Vanguard strike

Mysterious objectives:
1: Targeting relay - rerolls to hit when shooting
2: Grav wave generator
3: Targeting relay - rerolls to hit when shooting
4:
5: Skyfire nexus
6: Scatterfield

TURNS

T1: Dreadnought's multi-melta kills one scout, who took a 6+ cover save.

T2: Disembarked tactical squad took 2 hull points and immobilized Cassor the Damned.

Assault marines killed two death company with bolt pistol fire failing both armour and feel no pain saves. Assault marines failed charging 8" with a charge result of 6, which would have been sufficient if no death company models had died due the bolt pistol fire. Overwatch killed one assault marine.

T3: Two sniper scouts were aligned to clear shot and two had +1 from targeting relay when they snapped due to movement to better angle. One assault marine was killed before the death company unit overwhelmed the enemy assault marines in the charge. Zealot and Rites of Blood which grant re-rolls to hit and to wound rolls were amazing. Chaplain scored three wounds in the challenge. Also furious charge and red thirst gave the edge to charging death company.

Sanguinary guard's feel no pain saved one wound from the tactical marine squad.

Dreadnought's multi-melta destroyed the death company dreadnought with a glancing hit. Tactical squad charged at the scout squad who overwatched one wound which was negated by the feel no pain. In the assault phase one scout was removed.

Rhino picked up the intact tactical squad with a heavy flamer.

DEATH TOLL and SCORE: Death company has scored first blood (1point) - Sanguinary priest's side is still at 0 points. 2 dead scouts and 2 dead death company vs. 1 dead tactical marine and 1 dead squad of 5 assault marines.

T4: Scouts and tactical marines didn't manage to wound each other. On the other hand death company charged the dreadnought failing to destroy it. Assault results were 1 hull point and concussed walker who killed two death company. Re-rolls were utter crap with power fist guy, even with the fact that he could re-roll to hit and wound and would have wounded with a die result of three or higher.

T5: This turn was all about the two ongoing assaults. Rhino flat outed it's cargo towards enemy lines for flanking the scouts and tacticals fighting and get the line breaker. Assault resulted in scout squad having only the sergeant alive who failed miserably the morale check and fled 7".

The more interesting assault resulted in catastrophe on the death company side even with the concussed walker. Chaplain's Crozius Arcanum (S +2) failed to wound the dreadnought, sixes were needed not recieved. Power fist guy attacked on the same sequence as the walker resulting on a 6 on the vehicle damage table which caused only a immobilized result and a loss of one hull point. Walker scored three wounds and the first feel no pain roll failed miserably and resulted in annihilation of the whole squad including the warlord. 1VP for the Sanguinary priest's side.

T6: Scout sergeant regrouped, but was gunned down by rapid bolter fire.

Conclusions:
Death company with a chaplain is a true beast on the charges, but don't charge a dreadnought even a normal one. The 2+ attack boost they got in the latest FAQ makes them more useful.
Such a small clash means boys before toys.
More terrain and maybe 750 point game is playable on a 4x4 table.
Rules I at least forgot or played wrong: Both warlord's forgot their warlord traits which would could have had a minor impact on the assault against the dreadnought.. Forgot to test morale when the first scout was killed in the assault phase. Death company chaplain forgot to shoot his infernus pistol when charging the dreadnought.

Solid batrep, but I think you forgot to add the dreadnought to the Priest's side.

Seems so and also forgot to include the drop pod for death company dreadnought. My excuse is that I've been sick for almost two weeks for stupid flu and brain's been on autopilot.

I don't think this is anyway near solid. I'll give a better try for more interesting report. I'd like some feedback before hand for it though.

I'm planning playing 1250 points game on a 4x4 table. Altar of war mission No matter the odds, which is from angel's blade.

Forces will be:

Lost brotherhood strike force

Astorath
Death company chaplain + Gilded crozius

7man death company + jump packs + power fist + 2x inferno pistol
7man death company + jump packs + power fist + 2x power sword
6man death company + jump packs + power fist

Death company dreadnought + blood talons

Stormraven gunship

VS.

Baal strike force + Orbital intervention force

Librarian

10man tactical squad + heavy flamer + melta gun + combi-melta + melta bombs
Drop pod + locator beacon

5man tactical squad + grav gun + combi-grav

Furioso dreadnought + frag cannon
Drop pod + locator beacon

5man assault terminator squad + 5x thunder hammer & storm shield
5man assault terminator squad + 5x lightning claws
5man terminator squad + typhoon missile launcher

So my question is:
If I try to add some story and POV in to the report which sides view is more interesting. I still need to paint up Astorath so I have some time to think more of the story and how to do it. I wanted to add both armies a "game changing" reserve threat. In the mission death company will have +1 to fnp roll and enemy gets dead troop choices staight back to ongoing reserves. That relic on the chaplain gives rerolls to results of 1 on fnp rolls. Librarian and his 5man tactical unit were patrolling in the outer sectors where they are ambushed by the Astorath and his raged death company who all have fell to the black rage? Librarian is trying to hold the enemy at bay while deep strike support is requested from the orbit (2 pods and OIF) to deny the breach in the "Karlaen's line".

So which sides POV? Are the pictures shown in this thread enough to give outsiders a peak in to the battle or are more pictures needed fe. from the bird view?

More pictures will always be better in my opinion. And for the POV I'd suggest a bit of both.
