Librian or tech marine. ( this is my big fight). 65 points
5man tactical squad, flamer, combi flamer. 85 points
Rhino. 35 points
5 man scout squad, combi flamer. 65
5 man scout suad, heavy bolter. 63.
land speeder storm. 40
land speeder storm. 40
Thunder Fire Cannon. 100 points.
Tactics Iron Hands.
Main thing I'm torn on is Hq. not sure what gives me more support. The basic idea is I have a very mobile army with a nasty artillery piece that has a tough character who can still fight if the cannon gets popped.

I’d go with the lib. More generically flexible, and you already have a tech manning the TFC.
I know it’s hard to build a TAC marine list at 500 points, but you don’t have any AV more serious then a krack grenade. Not that orks are known for spamming heavy armor, but if he brings some kans or a lot of trucks you don’t have an answer until after you are locked in CC. Which is not where you want to be vs. the green menace.

I feel like the scout squads might melt. For the same price you could double up on another 5man flamer unit in a Rhino?

I'm feeling Ratius may be on to something here, at 500pts double rhino is more difficult to crack. that said, storms can jink, and you get more scouts... each option has pros and cons. giving scouts camo cloaks would also allow some classical abuse of the bolstered terrain for stationary, but firm defensive options... Nevelon as always has some great opinions where SM lists are concerned: 2nded, take the Libby, guy knows his stuff, and you already have one techy on the pitch... Hope this helped? GamerGuy

thanks for the help. lack of Av was an issue. though my friend only brought one kan. He went with two large mob of boys and a weird boy. lost over half my army but I won on objectives when the game ended on five. Thinking of deleting one of the scouts and lss. The one of with the HB didn't do much. The TFC was the the MVP, killed a lot of orks and killed the can in one round.

If he only brought one kan, taken out by the TFC in one round, I fail to see where lack of Av threat was an issue?
Thunderfires provide hella good value for points, especially in low point battles, I would be intrigued to see how a double TFC list performed at 500pts? 4 S6 small blasts is a lot of fire output for 100pts, most units can't match that level of threat, at range: while also carrying the bolstered terrain perks?
Not to mention, if the cannon itself is taken out; at 500pts a 2+save, power axe wielding, servo-harness wearing techy can be something of a beatstick should the need arise?
