Are the plasma pistols worth it? I’ve not read the new KT rules, but is there still the prohibition against 2+ armor? In that case you are spending a lot of points for the AP pistol that might kill you for no real good reason.

I like the idea of Plasma in KT, as long as it's on Bikes with either Preferred Enemy or Master Craftsman to help against Gets Hot! The potential for Rapid FIre and Str 7 are great all-rounders for either popping a transport or killing something you really need dead. The range is decent too. The Pistols, though, probably a waste of points. I put a Heavy Bolter in my Tact squad as it really shines in KT. Make sure to put either Relentless or Stealth on it.

Am I right in thinking this is heralds of ruin?
because I was of the opinion units were still bought in squads in the GW ruleset, making your units of 4 Illegal?
just an observation; please forgive me if I'm wrong, only looking to assist?

I'm not sure Gamerguy since everything deploys as its own unit. I just started playing though so you could be right. Yes there is still no 2+ armor in KT. I was trying to take out as many from a distance as I could with being able to fight close against teams that would charge me.

Official Kill Team you have to buy the minimum unit size. It deploys as its own unit, but its purchased normally (otherwise Orks would run through their 2 Troops maximum VERY quickly )
