how is super dungeon explore as a game? I am considering on leaving the 40K verse of Games Workshop into it as I love the adorable models.

First edition while good, took basically all night to play.
Since then they have had a kickstarter, a 2nd edition, and many expansions.
If you play It where one person is the bad guy and the other 4 players are on a team, expect it to take a long time to play.
If you play it full coop vs the board, I heard its a lot faster.
When I owned first edition I loved it. Painted it all up but sold it all as games took just way to long as a 1v4, usually always in favor of the bad guy winning. I cant speak much to 2nd edition

SPM's SDE is very much a GW game, in that the miniatures are amazing, but the rules, not so much...
1E rules are pretty balanced as a 1v1 game, although a bit overlong, and slightly favoring the Monsters. 3 Hero games help a lot. Don't play 1v5 Heroes, or it'll take forever. Still, great game!
Forgotten King is pretty messy. It's hugely bloated and overcomplicated. Take out the Deckbuilding, Explore Cards, Creeps & Pets, and it's OK-ish.
Multiple house variants appeared.
New rules are inbound via the SDE Legends KS. Latest PvP version is Beta 1.9, basically "done".

Awesome models. Rules are meh. Game time is extensive. Usually takes me 3-4 hours to finish 1 game.

The new rules have been looking excellent, though the pure co-op mode's rule rewrite is only just starting so we can't give a verdict. Ditto for the RPG-esque Legends game coming out in tandem with the KS.
That said, the existing co-op game has been a ton of fun, and something I feel makes a good "in-between" level of hardcore that spouses and more casual friends can dip into.

I would highly recommend Arcadia quest in place if your looking for basically the same theme of miniatures (Chibi/cute)
While it isn't Co Op, its your team of 3 vs other players AND the board. Everyone fighting to complete the missions objective. You can do a nice easy campaign/ Rules are clean.

I would actually say the opposite. Owning both, Arcadia Quest feels nothing like SDE outside of minis, and its very, very simple and board-gamey. It doesn't even have a pretense of being a dungeon crawler.

See, and I was going to point out that AQ and SDE have completely different aesthetic designs:
* AQ has HUGE noses;
- SDE has tiny noses.
That's a significant difference.

I like the co-op mode okay. It's oddly one of my favorite solo games. It's got some significant pacing issues in its current form though that the newest revisions are looking to address.
In general, it takes a little too long, largely because there's a lot of time spent figuring out which dice to roll in each action. You have to figure out your base stat, check for equipment upgrades, ability modifiers, debuffs, then pick out each color die to create your pool. It gets easier with practice, but it makes early games take forever. In general, I've found what the game desperately wants is more dice so players don't have to share and keep their pools intact between turns.

It is, but there's a big difference between "I need 7 dice" and "I need 1 green, 2 red, and 4 blue".
What makes it extra confusing for new players is that models have a bunch of stats they for the most part don't use, so you might be looking at the STR dice for one guy, but someone else builds off Will.
It's not really that hard, its just why the game sometimes takes 4-6 hours.

The new cards help a lot, by having icons by the stats that actually attack and defend.
