I was wondering if there was any units beside the command squad, centurion and the praetor that could use the plastic sm bikes as I have a friend who is keen to start a white scars army for 30k but doesn't want to have to buy loads of jetbikes and outriders as they are pretty expensive for what you get, even by fw standards. I was also curious what the scars legion rules and RoW are like and what would be the best things to buy for them that are fluffy and fit with their rules (aside from bikes) as I'm not too familiar with the scars and don't currently own book 6.

Outrider Bike models aren't required to run Biker Squads, its perfectly fine to use the normal Bike Models.

Would probably be good to do some torso and helmet swaps, though.

Ah yes thanks for pointing that out to me, I just looked at my red book and realised that I hadn't read the wargear section properly. That is rather inreresting as I presume that means you could have mixed squads using both models, which might look quite good for the scars given that each marine is likely to have a preference over the style of bike they use.
As for head and torso swaps are certainly a definite.

Yeah no reason you couldn't mix and match having variation and modification would add alot of additional character.

I used chaos bikes for mine and trimmed off all the spikes. They look lighter and more like dirt bikes that the heavy looking SM bikes, so more suitable for a scouting unit. Didn't actually take too long, so worth considering if your modeling skills are decent.
