Hello chaps,

This is the first army list I'm posting up here so be kind-ish I'm going for an 'all comers heavy mechanised force (I want everything in a transport). There are little fliers in lists in my immediate gaming group so I can get away with no Anti-Air for now. There are a fair few Knights and Super Heavies though. Regardless, some ideas would be helpful. This is what I'm looking at.

Terminator Captain (cataphractii). Gorgons chain, Chain Fist, Combi-Melta [185]

5 Terminators, TH&SS [225]
Dreadnought, Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer [120]
Dreadnought, Multi Melta, Heavy Flamer [110]

5 Marines, Plasma gun, Razorback with Lascannon & Plasma gun [160]
5 Marines, Plasma gun, Razorback with Lascannon & Plasma gun [160]
5 Marines, Plasma gun, Razorback with Twin Lascannon [160]
5 Marines, Plasma gun, Razorback with Twin Lascannon [160]

3 Centurions, 3 Grav Cannons, Omniscope [250]
3 Centurions, 3 Grav Cannons, Omniscope [250]

Land Raider Spearhead [740]
- Land Raider Redeemer (Terminators)
- Land Raider (Centurions)
- Land Raider (Centurions)

Skyhammer Annihilation Force [480]
- 5 Devastator Marines, 4 Multi Meltas, Pod
- 5 Devastator Marines, 4 Multi Meltas, Pod
- 5 Assault Marines, Packs, 2x Flamers
- 5 Assault Marines, Packs, 2x Flamers

The plan is fairly simple, the Devastator squads come down and Multi Melta anything nasty like Fell Blades or Knights. The Centurions use the Raiders to get into range and then blast everything and anything - I regularly come up against flying Nurgle Daemon Princes. I am worried I don't have enough anti-tank to deal with multiple Knights though. I'm not sure how to deal with a list with 3+ Knights in there in all honesty without tailoring against them.

I could ditch one/both Land Raiders for the Centurions and chuck them in Pods but that leaves 1 land raider that is going to get an awful lot of flak from my opponent and means I lose the ability to shrug off anything that isn't vehicle destroyed...... and I have two painted.

If Anti-tank is your concern, get rid of the Spearhead and one of the centurions (pod them) and the termies (I'm sorry but terminators aren't good this edition ;_.

This gives you hard counters against heavy armour and flying monstrous creatures. The AA defense force gains +1BS against flying MCs/ GCs/ etc. putting out 6 Str 7 AP 4 Skyfire shots and 1 Str 7 AP 2 Shot (all at BS5). The rest of the Anvil puts out 14 LC shots (any vehicle can fire twice if it is within 18' (I think) of the LR, provided the LR is your Warlord) 6 of which are TL and the Predators gain the MC/ Tank Hunter rule (-1 AV or rerolls to wound against MCs).

I would then put TL ACs on all the Razorbacks (or leave it as HBs to save some points), change the plasma guns for flamers and go for Plasma Cannon + TL Autocannon on both dreads. Maybe see if you can get a a double Gladius in for free Razorbacks, also see if a Thunderfire or two can fit in their to massacre hoards/ slow down deathstars.

Some Math Hammer, if you catch a knight's side (with no Ion Shield) you should hit 11 times, 9 of which count the armour as AV 11 so penetrate/ glance on a 2+ (or 5/6 of the time) which should inflict 7.5 HP, the other 2 shots should inflict 1 more giving you 8.5 HP of damage (with an ion shield that becomes 4.25 HP). 6 of these shots penetrate (3 with ion shield), so with the +1 modifier from AP2, one should do an extra 3 HP giving you 11.5 HP total. Basically a dead knight/ turn. In order to get round the ion shield, you'll want to spread the atf into a couple of fire points, so that one side has no ion shield to contend with.

Cheers for the reply mate, The Armoured Task force is not a bad idea actually. I have a few Predators kicking about although they're Autocannon/LC but I can live with that. A shame about the Terminators..... I like them and have them painted But I see your point. I can always ditch their Raider in order to Teleport them. I can use spare points for a beacon somewhere and the Armoured Task force.

The Land Raider 'Master' only allows himself or one vehicle within 24" of him to fire twice. Not whole squadrons so it's not that powerful. Having the LR my warlord also means it's a fairly easy VP to claim as Land Raiders aren't that hard to kill once you get to games of the 3k mark.

The Anti-flier tanks. I'll leave them as I just don't care for the models. Thanks for the advice though, I just can't bring myself to use the ugly things Razorbacks to Twin AC is a good idea. I'll have to order some sprues off the webstore.

The fire twice is still effectively an extra predator in the shooting phase though and the LR is a tougher warlord, you could change it to a Dreadnought or something.

I get you on the Terminators tho... I have 30 Termies sitting in my cupboard gathering dust and would love an excuse to field them.
