I have a rather bad habit of swapping out weapons and altering the model after I've already primed it. If I'm only changing something small (say changing a weapon without changing the arm), is it OK to paint straight on to the unprimed bit? I know the paint won't stick as well, but can I get away with it for just a small piece or should I just suck it up and buy some paint-on primer?

It's fine to paint straight on parts as long as you varnish and its not the main 'grabbing bit' that you'll use to pick it up
