I'm pretty sure that is the staff of an Astropath. Makes perfect sense with the Imperial Agents Codex being released soon.

Edit: You guys have all managed to sway my sureness, so I've updated the thread title. Oh well. I still think it's an Astropath, although Arcanites make sense, too.

Or it could be a Tzeentch model for AoS. Or perhaps a dark elf. Maybe it's a Slanneshi eldar, or better yet a Maiden World Farseer?

I very much doubt that's an Imperial model. Also, that source saying "Something mechanicum", yeah right..

It appears to be being held by a clawed hand. Really not convinced it's "without a doubt" an astropath.

The eye says to me it's aelf-kin. Teclis is the blind god in AoS.

The lines and gems don't say "Imperial" to me.

Indeed- it doesn't fit the IoM's design aesthetic.

Does any faction other than Eldar use gems in their motifs?

I thought the previous leak was for AoS, but now they say this: "Last week, we saw a close-up shot of some sort of mechanism – bolts, brass and vents, but quite exactly what, Emperor knows." Is that a hint that it's actually a 40k leak?
Then this would supposedly be AoS.

Its not covered in skulls and/or aquilae, so I doubt it's an Astropath. Especially with the clawed hand.

Emperor knows is just nerd talk, like people on here will say "by the warp!" or some other lingo.
Last week was definitely dwarves, most of me is convinced that it is AoS, as a Lord of Change or some kind of other 40k being would have a staff with more of a symbol whether it Tzeentch or just straight Chaos.

It's mostly hinting towards the upcoming Fenris book, whilst keeping the theme of it being a bulletin for Guardsmen.

I didn't see the backpacks at first. Yeah, probably.

I think the teaser is for AOS, probably an aelf, for what it's worth.
