Subject: Replacement swords for howling banshees

I got some old[1] metal howling banshees
- 1 had a bent sword. I bent it back straight and it snapped
- 1 has a missing sword and hand
- 1 more has a bent sword.
I am looking for replacement bits. Best option so far are the puppetswar katanas[2]. However, the hands on them dont go that well.
I have some where the swords are OK. So while I suppose I could replace all the sword blades so the unit matches, I am not keen.
Any suggestions for where to get bits?

(C) on the base tab says 1990-1. They appear to have las pistols instead of shuriken pistols.

Ooh, you appear to have the first iteration of the banshees - which were unveiled in 1990 with WD127.
You could, if you have the skills, pin the sword back on (it's difficult but not impossible).
The storm guardian upgrade pack (if it's still a thing?) might be worth it. You'd have to remove arms to make it work, but cutting an arm off and making a divot to fit the other arms isn't too hard (compared to pinning the sword to hand?).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I could try pinning the broken sword. It could be tricky to align.
I would still need one replacement sword for the missing one.
There is a Storm Guardian upgrade pack (thanks, I did not know about that). The swords in that are quite different, though.
Anyone have other ideas? Automatically Appended Next Post: On another note. These are probably lead alloy. I better wash my hands...

Dakka has policies against recasting, but this is a repair job...
Oyumaru, and brown stuff (not greenstuff or a green mix-those are too soft) might work to clone one or more swords (with the hand). That can then be cut and fitted.

Harlequin swords might work, though I'd have to see the models to be sure.

Dark Elf Executioners have some ornate blades, could these work for you?

May be worth finding a few more on eBay and picking up a sacrificial donor.
There are some singles on eBay for $2-4 a pop.

thanks for the suggestions.
harlequin and executioner swords are both cool, but not quite the same, so i would have to replace all the swords to get the squad looking the same.
i got these for 1GBP each, so i guess i could just throw out the models and buy more. for some reason i have decided to refurbish these. perhaps its just the sunk cost fallacy after i spent hours stripping paint from them.
i think i will try recasting.
unless someone knows where i can get a whole bunch of swords with hands on that will match. i am thinking if this was going to be possible someone would have suggested one. Automatically Appended Next Post: winterdyne wrote:Dakka has policies against recasting, but this is a repair job...

So, I make a mould out of green stuff, and then use that to cast swords out of brown stuff?

Buddy, it's always worth saving old minis...
Saved these from eBay recently.
