Hey all, I recently decided to start collecting a 30k Iron Hands army. I know hat I want to build one specific clan and have all of the livery and heraldy that comes with it. Unfortunately, I can't find anything online that says what certain clans specialised in, who their leaders were and where they served whether it be Istavaan or just the Great Crusade or if they had different colour schemes or pauldrons. If anyone could provide me with a breakdown or a link to something that could help in my choice, it would be really appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I also don't know what clans were wiped out in the Heresy, or if certain clans were absorbed into others or what clans were made in the 40th millenium and not 30th. I litterally know nothing lol, please help xD

If you want one that has a completely tragic story, resulting in them all dying in the end, the pick up a copy of The Damnation of Pythos and do the 111th Clan-Company. They get described quite well, with their captain, sergeants and even a few tanks getting character roles.

The Avernii were the favourites of Ferrus and who suffered the heavy loses of the Legion . The Atropos and other two formed the Scions of Medusa long after The Heresy. And The Morragul is the Outcast clan than later become the Red Talons.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want a clan or a force that is unique in one way or another. I think I would want a clan that was at Istaavan, has more than one HH novel so I can read about my guys alot xD.
I like the idea of the red Talons so that I can use Autek Mor and have something unique, I also like the idea of collecting an army based around the eye of vigillance and their quest for vengeance. I also read something awhile back about there being some Iron Hands that paint their helmets and shoulders red because they worked with the mechanicum? Seems like a good fluffy way to get mechanicum allies as well as a unique iron hands colour scheme and backstory.

Sounds like you're thinking of Clan Brannsar, which is a fan-made clan but it was so well done it's easy to see how it could be mistaken for something official, and imho, it should be.

Personally, the Atropos Clan is my favourite, as founder of the Sons of Medusa.

But if you want rules and protagonism in the FW books, three clans are prominent:

-Morragul: The Red Talons, whose Chapter master has rules and appeared both in Istvaan and in Bodt campaigns.

-Sorrgol: Whose Chapter Master, Meduson, has rules too and was founder of the broken legions. It has a very important rol in the last book.

-Avernii: The morlocks, the most loyal and the elite of tbe Irond Hands. Now shattered but unbroken, ready to unleash retribution.

Damn it, why can't Gw hire these people and actually make these clans lol. Really loved that idea. Failing that though, I like the look of medusons and autek mors clans. I'd ike to find a way to incorporate the eye of vigilance in to the whole thing tho. Maybe just the occasional SoH banner in the army and a few of their shoulder pads? What do you think?
