If you put a FHT in a T it must come out 6 inches from the T. Does it count as being in swooping or flying mode? I get that most people wouldn't do this because you can get it in swooping mode turn 1 etc but I'm curious to know if you can. Might give you a chance to get your HT in the perfect position that it couldn't have been at the start of deployment. Or facing the rear armour of something you really want to destroy like a dreadnaught, pred or rhino with gravcannons inside.

So basically what flying mode is a flying hive tyrant coming out a tyrannocyte going to be in?

I believe you can only put a MC in a tyrannocyte and not a FMC. In the rulebook their two separate kind of models, just like beasts and bikes are not the same.

But even if you could...why would you ever want to do that? Hive tyrant can fly 24 inch first turn (and flat out/run 2xd6) and another 24 second turn...so your pretty much there where you want to be second turn.

Yeah, you can't put an FMC in a drop pod. But you don't need to, mainly for the reasons shogun has already mentioned, and also because FMCs all get deepstrike.
So if you really want to lose out on at least a turn of shooting with your flyrant, you can still drop in.

Only time I might even consider this is if I was going second against something like 3 wraithknights. Can't afford to spend the first turn on the ground against that, getting hit by D cannons.

Deepstriking FMCs always arrive in swoop mode.
