Hey all.
I wanted to try my hand at a competitive Destruction list. This is certainly not for casual play.
The Fist of Gork... and Mork
Rogue Idol (Gork)
Rogue Idol (Mork)
Kunning Rukk 1
Savage Warboss
10 Savage Ork Boys
10 Savage Ork Boys
40 Savage Arrow Boys
Kunning Rukk 2
Savage Warboss
10 Savage Ork Boys
10 Savage Ork Boys
40 Savage Arrow Boys
Total: 2,480
So it's your basic kunning Ruk, focusing on ranged shooting with the Arrow Boys, X2. The regular boys are bubble wrap/ objective grabbers. The two Idols are durable face stompers that should tie up units to buy your ranged units time wipe stuff out.
So the question is how do you think this would fair against top competitive lists?

I can't really answer your question because I don't really know what constitutes the top competitive lists at the 2500 point level. Most competitive stuff seems to be either 1k or 2k, although I've seen some 1.5k as well.
That said, just in theory looking at your list it's certainly very annoying to play against due to the huge number of dice. However, it has a few weaknesses that are worth noting. The devastating Kunnin' Rukk list at the 1000 point level generally has a wizard which gives your arrow block a MUCH higher threat radius due to the Bonesplitterz movement spell (I forget the name). Without that spell, you are much more vulnerable to having your Savage Warboss sniped before you get a chance to unload. 80 Arrowboyz is are nasty, but significantly less so without the double fire ability.
Rogue Idols are scary, but it's a huge amount of points invested in two models that have random movement. They also are required to charge so are easy to bait around by a canny opponent. Also, keep in mind that you won't be able to have a Bonesplitterz allegiance with Rogue Idols in your army afaik.

I appreciate your feedback. The 2k version of the list is the same thing minus one Idol. Puts it right at 2k. Fair point about the spell. This is countered some what by the destruction allegience ability, which the Idol also benefits from. I love the Idols, and really want to use them with my Savage orcs (I mean they have a Wurrzag mask, come on). By doing so, I am losing bonesplitterz allegience benefits, which I accept as the price of bringing it. I do think it's worth it though.

I'm also not sure about the 2.5k level, but I will say that I would shy away from double Kunnin' Rukk because of the practicality. Every tournament I've seen has some limit on game time and when you are rolling dice for 480 shots a turn you simply aren't going to be able to finish within that period.

Buckets are you friend. Though you'd do fine to steal some scooper from the grocery store or buy someo of those big ones to get that many dice.

Having seen just one Kunnin' Rukk in action I stand by my statement; you will have huge problems with time if you have two. One is perfectly doable with buckets and loads of dice, but two...

I think you would struggle on 3 Places of Power without any tough heroes to take the objectives. All tournaments I have seen play that tabling doesn't grant you victory if you still lose on the scenario.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-) |
