Holy Terra.

So, for my next HH project I'm doing Thousand Sons, I had my list on these forum recently (it's probably still on the first page somewhere) and as its warlord I have a Praetor that's been used to fill in the points gaps so I have 1600. He's kind of interesting, with a the basic meta of Artificer/Iron Halo and Arcaeotype Pistole, but has a combi-plasma along with that (mostly for the plasma part) and a MC Thunder Hammer and a jet bike w/ heavy bolter. Here is the list entry:

Legion Praetor.....245p

Combi-weapon
Archaeotype Pistol
Master-Crafted Thunder Hammer
Melta Bombs
Iron Halo
Artificer Armour
Jetbike w/ Heavy Bolter

So, my questions are:

Should I move the MC to the Pistol, or should I keep it on the hammer? I'll probably use the bolter as his main ranged weapon, with the plasma for particularly annoying enemies, with the Archaeotype pistol as a CC weapon for taking out enemies that could hurt him before his hammer gets in (stupid unwieldy). Once (if) 1k Sons get to upgrade characters to psykers he will be one, but until then this is all I have.
Thoughts?

Note: this guy will probably be used to take out key enemy units and annoy my opponent before dying heroically in combat. Once Ahriman gets ruled he will be downgraded to a support character, with big Ahr as warlord.

okay, so:

archeotech pistols are already master crafted, BUT replace that with a paragon blade.

Doing that would net you 2 specialist weapons, 1-2 master crafted re-rolls, and a stupid number of attacks on the charge. this means you can opt to swing at S: 8 I:1, or S: 5 I: 5 all at AP: 2

I keep my Praetors lean and mean:

Digital Lasers
MC Paragon Blade
Iron Halo

Anything else just dilutes and confuses his role on the table. As noted above, the Archaeotech Pistol is already Master Crafted, and Praetor's come standard with Artificer Armor. I'm also coming up with a total cost of 250 points. Why give him Melta Bombs when he has a Thunder Hammer? You get one meltabomb attack, but you would get at least 4 attacks with the Thunder Hammer. Why buy him a combi-weapon when you are buying him a Archaeotch pistol that is superior in every way? Not to mention you are sticking him on a Jetbike with a Heavy Bolter.

If you are just trying to fill in points, I'd save your points on this guy, and maybe get an Apothecary Deatchment or a Master of Signal or something else besides trying to dump a lot of points into a Praetor.
