At first I though in the angels of death supplement that you could only take "The sons of Gorgon" or Chapter tactics found in Codex Space marines and further expanded in the AOD supplement. However in the descriptions it makes mention that you can use chapter tactics in your detachments. PG 88 of AOD.

I originally thought, you could pick either chapter tactics or the detachment, but the wording, seems to almost imply the detachment has the chapter tactics.

Am I misreading or just misinterpreting this? Or does this mean, I can take The sons of Gorgon detachment, which stacks with chapter tactics? Or are they two wholly separate things?

Anyone taken in the Sons of the Gorgon detachment also has Chapter Tactics for the Iron Hands. This means that characters and vehicles all get IWND, and everyone has 6+ FNP. Additionally, because of the Detachment bonuses, everyone within 12" of a character has +1 to their FNP (For 5+ instead of 6+ most of the time) and vehicles... I can't remember what vehicles get off the top of my head, but it's something nice.

EDIT:
Oh, and this probably belongs in YMDC, but whatever.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Chapter Tactics is a special rule attached to your units, the 'Iron Hands Detachment' subheading in Angels of Death describes benefits gained by detachments composed entirely of units with Iron Hands Chapter Tactics. The Fist of Medusa Strike Force is a detachment that requires all models and units with the Chapter Tactics rule to be Iron Hands to be chosen.

'Chapter Tactics: Iron Hands' is a rule attached to your units. An 'Iron Hands Detachment' is a CAD, Allied Detachment, or any formation or meta-formation composed entirely of Iron Hands models. The Fist of Medusa Strike Force is a specific type of detachment that requires all units taken in it to have Chapter Tactics: Iron Hands, and thus qualifies as an Iron Hands Detachment.

There's almost nothing to 'stack', the benefits of being an 'Iron Hands Detachment' are the ability to use Iron Hands relics and Warlord Traits in addition to those in the core book, and the ability to take a few units in different slots (which don't do anything in formations).

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Thanks guys. I thought the chapter tactics only applied to the Force Organization armies, but after reading it again, it came off as the detachment also has chapter tactics, which you guys confirmed for me.
