So, as some of you might know I will be building a Sons list out of my Prospero box. Originally, that was going to be it, but now the Rubric marines have come out I feel like they would make a nice addition to the army (model wise). As there are no Rubric Marines in 30k, I will run them as Veterans. Here is my new and improved list:

Tactics:

The librarians will be stuck in the Vet squads, who have been kited out for anti-infantry and anti-tank, although they do lack CC abilities.The tac blobs will be used for objective camping, with the Terminators going after enemy tanks and TEQ. My Praetor will probably be sent up the field, or held in reserve, to kill enemy characters with his paragon blade and TH. If anyone thinks the two weapons are stupid, let me explain something: the TH will be used on enemy's with higher INT, as he would be going last anyways. It will also be used on things that can't kill him in that round, but that he could conceivably kill. The Paragon Blade will be used on other characters with lower initiative than him, such as power axe or TH sergeants. The seekers will be used in a similar manner, taking out one unit/character that really annoys me (praevians, delegatuses, veteran squads...). My plans for expanding this army include getting rhinos for the Vets/Libbys and maybe some more terminators (I really like the new Scarab Occult ones) and some form of better anti-tank like Rapiers or LR Achilleses. I might want a command squad on Jetbikes for my Praetor, and if Magnus gets a 30k model I'll want that too. Also, any way to get more Psykers into this list will be used, hopefully Inferno gives me some way to do that.

Personaly, I would exchange the second Librarian for a Siege Breaker in TA, Drop the Seeker squad, max out the HS squad and give them Misile Launchers. The Tacticals also need some transport, or the will be gunned down before they do anything.

I would hold of on any major purchases until Inferno comes out. Rumoured for February!

As to the list. Heavy bolters are underhwelming, most targets won't be too bothered by them.

Thats a lot of footslogging. I don't see much anti tank at all. Looks like a jetbike squad with heavy weapons to escort the Lord is needed

I don't want to sound too negative, I'm sure an infantry horde would look cool on the table, but you will get tabled a lot with this list. Nothing scares me, if you go up against a gunline army with artillery they are going to wipe you out before you even get close, you have very little reliable ranged anti tank, so a dreadnought heavy or tank heavy list will roll over you. A melee army like SoH or WE will just carve through your units with no major units in your line to deter an attack. A drop pod army will stomp you, a zippy fast army like EC or WS list will just run circles around you and pick you off.
My DG list isn't particularly competetive but I have a Leviathan that you would struggle to put a dent in, a Medusa to cripple a squad a turn, 2 tac blobs with apothecaries that you would struggle to kill, MoS for more pie plates dropping on your head, plus a mortis, my own terminators and a missile launcher squad to snipe your characters if their units fall victim to template weapons.

A proper gun Iron Warriors units with quad launchers, scorpius and Tyrants, will annihilate you.

Even Auxila armies will wipe the floor with that list because they'll be packing more tanks than you can possible cope with, they'd just have to hold their infantry back and steam into you with heavy armour.

The only way that list is going to win is an objectives mission against an inexperienced opponent who doesn't know how to prioritise targets. Replace the vets with Contemptors and give the tacticals rhinos or bulk out the squads. Drop the seekers and heavy bolters as they are underwhelming and you don't need more anti infantry. Replace with either a tank or aircraft. Drop the 3rd HQ, 3 in 2000 pts is generally too much, those points would be better invested in something tougher.

I don't mean any offence but it seems like you have just created a list purely based on RL cost, ie just buying a couple of plastic boxsets and calling it a day. Now there is nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to net you a powerful list in 30k, where the badboys will always be forgeworld units. That said, you could still stick to plastics and invest in some vindicators or predators or contemptors, and at least have some bite to your list.

This is a more fluff-oriented list, ill be using my RG for most competitive games. Also, i will most likely use them in ZM games (obsessed with those boards) so ill be playing against similar armies mostly. I agree that my lack of Anti tank scares me, but ill most likely find some way to fit either laser destroyers or contemptors when i move to 2500.
