Which is the best chapter to run lots of vehicles? Salamanders or Iron Hands?

Both of them are quite big on forges/ techmarines so would fit for fluff reasons.

Iron Hands get IWND dreadnoughts but Salamanders can get twin-linked MM via Vulkan.

I have quite a lot of Space Marine vehicles and am not sure which Chapter to go with.

Obviously White Scars are good for bikes and speeders but I have a lot of Dreads as well.

I would go with Iron Hands mainly because if you run any Detachment or Formation that exclusively uses the Iron Hands Chapter Tactics, then all vehicles in the same detachment or formation get the IWND Special Rule as a result of the Iron Hands Chapter Tactics (regardless of whether or not the vehicle has the Chapter Tactics Special Rule). Plus the +1 to Blessings of the Omnisiah rolls would be incredibly useful with a vehicle army.

Is this actually how it works? I looked around and there seemed to be a lot of people saying it only applied to Dreadnoughts.

IIRC, this issue was cleared up in the FAQ. I think that it said that if a detachment or formation took one set of Chapter Tactics exclusively (e.g. Iron Hands), then that detachment because an Iron Hands Detachment/Formation. This in turn would mean that any vehicle in this detachment/formation - regardless of whether or not they had the Chapter Tactics Special Rule - became an Iron Hands vehicle (this obviously applies regardless of the actual Chapter Tactics used). Then - under the Machine Empathy Special Rule conferred by the Iron Hands Chapter Tactics, it says the following:

Iron Hands characters and vehicles have the It Will Not Die Special Rule.[/i]

So because of all the aforementioned information, all of the vehicles in an Iron Hands Detachment or Formation get the IWND Special Rule.

Ahh, had a root around on the FB page and found the answer in the FAQ.

Is that likely to become permanent or might they change it in the official FAQ release?

I have 10 Land Raiders so having them get IWND would be better than twin-linking their Multi-Melta pintels.

Iron Hands for definite, not so interesting with your Land Raiders, but if you run the Fist of Medusa strike force from Angels if Death, any vehicle within 12" of an independent character gets PotMS as well...

I think the FAQ has officially been released in its final form. Regardless, I think it's going to be a permanent thing.

As long as you couple the benefits of IWND with a Techmarine or two so that you can repair Immobilised Results and whatnot, that should be alrights. But I do agree with Typo: If you can get yourself a Fist of Medusa Strike Force, that would be infinitely more exciting.

The FAQ is now official, however it can be found in the same section as regular FAQs, I am not sure if they changed it from the draft (they did for silly rules like the drop pods doors) so you might want to check

I was under the impression they had released a BRB FAQ but not a Codex: Space Marines one, which is where the Iron Hands vehicle ruling is.

Depends on vehicles. White scars can have H&R dreads which can be an interesting option - especially with double HF.

If we look at non-vanilla chapters, they also have good options. Like BA fragiosos, DA darkshtouds, GK dreadknights.
