eh re-posted images to be 1 less click lol

So the model was test assembled and I came to see that everything can be painted in parts. Literally nothing but the left side even needs green stuff which was wonderful but I hit a snag. Midway through my cape I noticed some glue had dried over detail and I couldn't salvage the part to a standard I liked. I had to snap off the hood part and replace it with the test models hood (which i also had to snap off and was scary as hell). Then the test model didn't have a hood which wouldn't have been an issue but today I struggled to flush fit the back resulting in needed a THIRD ahriman to mess with chop up to see how best to fit it. A nightmare that somehow I got through...

I would estimate the model so far has taken me 50 hours. Sorry for awful quality pics but Its the best I can do atm

Wow! Simply incredible paint job so far! Sorry you had troubles with the assembly but it appears your efforts were/will be well worth it in the end! Can't wait to see more pics/finished pics of this model! Fantastic work!

It really looks spectacular (do you consider to enter any painting competition... because you really should!).

If I could offer any criticism it's that the waistbelt does not stand up to the rest... But this is nitpicking.

P.S.: Could you share your recipe for the cloak? I'm looking for something like this for my Dark Angels...

yeh its part of what will be my diorama for golden daemon. Whats wrong with the belt in your eyes? the color? Its going from "the fang" to pure white in a very small space so I can only assume maybe you mean to soften it up but my style is high high contrast. . For example the red goes from basically black to shiny metal red/white, the robes go from xv-88 to ushabti bone with white added in for edge highlights. The model is VERY busy and I stressed for many hours debating what the sash and inner cloak needed to be color wise

btw thats the cloaks recipe, xv-88 and then 8 glazes mixed in between that and ishabti bone But for an easier and similar color you could base zandri dust and shade towards xv-88 as well. For a more yellow brown I would recommend zandri dust or ushabti shaded with zamesi desert followed by deep recess xv-88.

thats the idea Im debating painting my TS formation the same color. The idea is "ahrimans dudes" the sorcerers that survived from the ritual would be the same color but still slightly changed

Thanks for the recipe. I will try this out when I return to my Dark Angels.

Regarding the belt: I (personally) think the contrast is too strong. I wouldn't go till pure white and finish more on an off-white colour. But again: this is nit-picking.

Anyways: subscribed to your thread and will follow this closely!

yeh i can see that maybe. Too late to go back and try out as everything is assembled. The model is SOOOO busy It was super hard to figure out what colors needed to be where. It doesn't look as crazy in real life and with the addition of plates/arms and the staff/magic on the hand I believe it will be ok. Furthermore I needed a color to tie it to the rubric marines. Also it took maybe around 30 hours to blend the robes. I wouldn't recommend it for an army. Id just do zandri dust with xv88 in the darkest folds and an ushabti edge highlight

I seriously can't stop looking at how incredible this is. Might try out your recipe for simpler cloaks with the zandri and xv88 in the folds and ushabti edge on my exalted sorcerers. Truly inspired work! Any pics of the finished model all assembled? Those cloaks are just flawless...man who am I kidding, this whole thing is flawless!

The backpack has taken me over 15 hours now.... It's deceptively involved to paint those claws NMM and the NMM red shine. Brutal honestly. I have both arms/shoulders left before I move on to exalted sorcerers. I've decided this model is good but It isn't worth a trip over to be confident enough winning a GD. The squad of exalted sorcerers will be my serious attempt as squad entrys are generally weaker and I don't have any delusions that I'm anywhere close to these guys who do single lol

I'll include recipes and stuff in the coming days

You'd get my vote if I was a judge! This model/paint job is simply incredible! I'd say if you do end up doing squad instead of single than I'd toss Ahriman in there with the exalted sorcs as their "leader"! Keep at it man! Your hours of detailed work are definitely paying off!
Super interested in more detailed recipes though! That would be amazing! Especially for the cloak! Once again, can't take my eyes off this incredible model, and it's not even complete! Can't wait to see it finished!
