So I plan to have my Warhound Titan pinned and assembled by a commission service; however I know there are some parts of this model that need to be painted prior to assembly... I just don't know which parts they are.

Can anyone tell me, with pictures if you have them, what parts I need to paint prior to building?

Thanks!!

Almost all of it needs to be painted prior to assembly.

About the only things you can really glue together are the legs.

Everything else nees to either be pinned only, or blu-tacked. Pistons in particular will want fitting pretty much after everything else is done and weathered.

The interior will need to be painted beforehand, as any areas which will be covered by the armour plates, such as the shins and groin. I agree with the guy above me in that leave the pistons until they are assembled as they have to be cut to length, a process which may damage the paintwork if they've been done beforehand.

Now I was planning to leave the armour plates off when it get's assembled, will I still need most of it to be painted prior in that case?

Thanks guys.

Yeah.

The only armour plates that are separate are the big shin plates and the round toppers for the shoulders (on the Mars Pattern). Everything else is moulded on.

The main body is very heavy when assembled, and the area behind the head and weapons would be near impossible to reach properly when assembled.

If you want to make a good job of it, in pieces is the way to go, no doubt about it.

Aw that's a bummer, so there is really no way to get this built by a 3rd party if I intend to paint it myself. Well thanks for the advice.

If it's a place you trust you could get them to clean it, fit it up and pin it together without gluing it.

Yeah, I just pinned the one I did together (apart from the legs).
The tricky bit is the weapons - you'll note I used overlong pins, set inward so they grip with gravity for setting up the pose.

You might be surprised by the cost to assemble though, it's not a quick job, unless corners are being cut. Took me about 40-50 hours from the bag if memory serves, but that's to a high standard of finish. If you don't mind mould lines here and there, it might be quicker, but don't trust quotes that figure to be a day's work (and you'll probably get them)- it ain't a day's work.

Ok that's a great idea, thanks guys. Now the task of finding someone to properly clean and pin this thing. I realize it might be costly, but I just can't bring myself to do it hah.
