Subject: is Tyranid Tervigon Brood Progenitor a good start for tyranids?

Looking at maybe getting 1500 competitive together of tyranids. Is this new box a good place to start? Or is the start collecting a better start. Looking for a little value but also units that are worthwhile. The gargoyles were not something I was really looking at.
I was thinking Tyranid Tervigon Brood Progenitor with some more Termagants, a hive tyrant or two, Zoanthropes
Any tips for starting out?

If you're building a competitive list, then Tervigons don't really have a place unfortunately. They were amazing back in 5th edition, but got massively nerfed in the current codex and core rules. The start collecting box with the flying hive tyrant is much better. The gargoyles might surprise you. They're a fast unit in a slow codex. Mobility is very important. The warriors in that box are kinda crap though.

Start Collecting Box is better.
Hive Tyrant is the best unit in the Codex.
Gargoyles are better Termagants because for 2 points more you get Jump Packs and the Hunt table (better than Lurk).
Warriors are bad, but they're a necessity in a lot of formations so you won't need to buy a box of them.

Tervigon was once really good, now is not useless but avoidable. That bundle has a significant cut price and 30 termagant plus the tervigon as a troop choice are iconic for the tyranids, so i'd buy probably two of those boxes as a i love the models. But if you want to build the most competitive list out there save your money for something else, indeed.
