I want to get into AoS and play a Nurgle army since doing so in 40k would be underwhelming and I like the Nurgle models most.

I want my army to contain Rotbringers and Daemons.

Are Daemons of Nurgle considered good? Are the noticeably worse than other units?

Should I use Plaguebearers as my main infantry or should I use some other chaos unit for infantry?

What units do you recommend?

Is the "Start Collecting! Daemons of Nurgle" box a good starting point?

I would say a big blob of plaguebearers will help a lot. 30 of them buffed is really nasty.
I'm finding rot bringers to be underpowered (as my other thread says lol) but everything in aos is use able.

remember stuff like knights, chosen, warriors and marauders can all take marks of nurgle.

gravitate towards what models are the coolest looking to you. add in units that synergize well and also look cool to you.

Unless you want to dominate the tournament circuit.. just play whats looks cool. I love the putrid blightkings. I bought 20. I am adding some plaguebeaers for cheaper bodies for objectives and sprinkling with heros that buff the blightkings. Adding a glotkinn because the model is cool AF. I added festus leechlord because his backstory is hilarious and his model is equally as disturbing/hilarious. The only model I am fielding that I dont like is the rot bringer sorceror and thats because it is a requirement for the blightguard formation (a formation that is focused on large numbers of blight kings)

If you LOVE the look of plague drones (they are great models) get a bunch of them, see any formations utilize them (hint: tallyband) and read all the warscrolls to see what works well/synergizes with them.

I would highly recommend buying the Nurgle start collecting box. It is a solid place to start building an army from.

It doesn't sound like you are looking to dominate tournaments, so there isn't much in the way of bad choices you could make. I will say that a base of plaguebearer battleline (only run them in units of 10 or 30 btw) backed up by blightkings and a harbinger general would be a solid start that you can build from. Even if you decide to go all mortal later the plaguebearers are still useful to summon onto objectives, while the harbinger is still useful to trigger daemonic loci.

Speaking of that, the herald of nurgle is one of the few models I would recommend you stay away from, at 100 points he simply won't be as useful as just 10 more plaguebearers would be.

Why is he so expensive? I have always wondered that. What powerhouse combo am I missing? lol Model is FANTASTIC though!

Yeah the herald doesn't seem to really serve a purpose. I'll keep him in play for a little while though until I get more putrescent models.

You aren't missing anything, its just that the GHB values are far from perfect; some models cost too much and some too little.

I have been told that in the GHB2 the Herald should receive a significant price reduction. He will likely be either 60 or 70pts. I am not sure how he made it past the current design team to cost the same as a Lord-Celestant and Lord-Castellant. Even Epidemus is really on the high side currently and hopefully he goes down by 60-80pts.

I'm thinking that I'll use the Herald of Nurgle as a Chaos Sorcerer with the Mark of Nurgle.
