Hope this army list builder pops up right. Was wondering what you thought about this 2k list for a torunament. It also has a fire raptor with reaper autocannons and ceramite plating but it does not have that in the builder.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the allied force have to be from a different army codex altogether? It should be a Combined Arms Detachment which requires 1 HQ and 2 Troop minimum.

You cannot have a CSM ally with the same faction. Simply remove a Troop squad from the Warband and add it to a CAD. I would also remove a bike squad and buy two rhinos for the foot CSM. You get 2 additional obsec units.

There is a vehicle legacy which grants fearless to cultists. Could be worth considering putting on a rhino or fire raptor.

The allied units are iron warriors. It did not let me change the. Marine type. Also you can take an hq, one troop, and a heavy, fast, or elite as allies.

The 2 additional rhinos over bikes is a decent idea. I would have to by another but that's not a big deal. Should I drop the other bikes for raptors instead then?

Discussed this in another thread just the other day.

An Allied Detachment cannot belong to the same faction as the Primary detachment. All Traitor Legions are part of Faction: Chaos Space Marines. You could never take a CAD of Alpha Legion and an Allied Detachment of Iron Warriors in the same army (well, not unless without another CAD that is not CSM.)

Unless GW releases a faq, this is not RAW. Of course, there is nothing to say you cannot take some other kind of formation. Whatever you take will still benefit from rules on the allies matrix.

Ally quandaries aside, I'm confused as to the purpose of a lot of your forces? You have extra bikes but no special weapons on them, and only melts bombs with the CSM squads. You also have an extra Lord that doesn't seem to want to contribute too much when you can just stick the Termi Lord in the Warband. It just seems quite unfocused in general.

So how do I take a fire raptor gunship in my list without crippling myself with a CAD tax since there is no way to substitute it in? Am I stuck with taking a CAD? So at minimum another 75 points of chaos marines. This 225 point vehicle is quickly bloating.

Other way is using a Purge detachment.

Needs 1 hq 2 elite minimum.
More points than a CAD , but less "tax" if done right.

You only have a "Sorcerer" Tax for the CAD. Remove two Chosen from the Warband as they can be a troop choice for the CAD. You've already paid for it. Remove the CSM troop from the CAD and upgrade the other CSM to include Plasma. That should give you a well round list.

I cant remove the 2 extra chosen with their rhinos, they get infiltrate, which is why they are so useful.

Do you HAVE to take a warpsmith to take a relic, or just multiple relics require one?

In that case don“t take the Fire Raptor.

A technomancer is only required for more than one relic (and can be a sorcerer with one roll on maelific, doesn't have to be a warpsmith)

Chosen can still infiltrate in the CAD.

As Captyn Bob says the chosen will still be able to infiltrate as that is a Alpha Legion benefit. The only benefits you will lose are the wardband bonus and the larger detachment bonus. however as a CAD troop you will still have Obj Sec. So very little loss I believe overall to gain a Fire Raptor.

If you want to take the Fire Raptor and whatever relic you can get from the Warpsmith, consider that for Iron Warriors a Warpsmith and 2 single unit obliterators is a valid CAD. Plus the oblits have tank hunter and objective secured.
