Been Around the Block

Hey everyone , I was hoping that some of you fine tacticians could give me some suggestions on what armies work well when allied with Skitarii .
It doesn't need to be the strongest or most competitive , I'm looking for fun synergies that could work. We are aiming for 1250 point mark as well if that helps .
Thanks a bunch
RK

There's actually several options.
1. Librarian Conclave for easy psyker access if that's your thing
2. MT for allied Taurox
3. Cult Mechanics for helping plug holes
I've only done the first two myself and had some decent success.

Legion of the Damned can do a decent job at cover busting higher armoured folk as a standalone option, but really, there's not much Skitarii need at lower points. Haywire > Melta for anti tank and the torrent of wounds from vanguard should deal with almost anything else while some walkers can drop anyone in the skies with ease.
Coteaz (in a plasma caliver squad of vanguard of course) would work fairly well with them, as would the new Witchhunter inquisitor, Greyfax if your meta is heavy on things with scout that can survive a round of shooting and make you pay in CC.
A librarian and a squad of marines in a drop pod can make for decent cheap backfield harrassers in an allied detatchment or just take a conclave as Slayer-Fan123 suggested.
Deathwatch can provide some cheap assistance as well with either a fast biker/jump pack unit, a bit of shooty with some termies or just a unit full of special issue ammo.
Almost anything goes with skitarii (or visa versa), but really, at 1250, I'm not sure Skitarii have that many holes that they can't fill from their own dex. Whatever you think you're lacking, there's assuredly an Imperium formation that can help you out. Perhaps if you posted your list or even a general thought on how many points you want to spend on allies and what you need them to do would help.

I like to use a C:IA Deamonhunter Strike force formation once in a while with my Skitarii.
Having some Terminators deep striking into your opponents backline on turn one makes them a huge focus point, allowing Vanguards to get closer for their rad-guns
Dreadknights are also awesome to have around and act quite similair as with the terminators, but safer with the personal teleporter. Providing a big distraction so that your Vanguard, Dragoons and infiltrators can close in on your opponents units, while Onagars blast them to pieces.

Imperial Knights are a pretty good. They bring the Almighty D and some hefty firepower to the table. A Crusader or Warden are probably the best to add, though Paladins and Errant would still be good. The problem is that at 1250, they eat up a third of your points, but still not a bad option. A Knight at 1250 is a bit much though.

Well, I'd consider a single Imperial Knight.
At small pt levels, the Lanchester square law comes very well into play. That is, if you double the tanks, the enemy needs four times the fire power to take them down.

Skitarii really need the new IA book to hurry up so they will have access to dedicated transports.
