Title says it. Do you own units that are not intended to be put in an army list, but that you have on hand for Summoning?
Personally I have 3 Plague Drones and am working on a Burning Chariot/E-flamer. I also have several Disc Heralds, but with the Anarchic formation, they'll actually get into an army list from time to time.

I own Daemon units that have become just for summoning, I had them to play WHFB with originally and when I discovered Khorne Daemons get curbstomped by everything in melee in AoS they became a summon pool.

I like to paint blood letters and some other daemons the semi Asian feel to some of them is just too good to pass by. It could perhaps someday become a daemon army but until today I have never use them outside summoning them with my radical inquisitors. I am currently considering painting a Lord of change for no other reason that it reminds me of the Indonesian statues that my grandparents used to have in their home.

I feel like this is most players experience as well. Using units that you already had but that aren't "super good" on their own.

I think GW probably felt like player were going to run out and grab Daemon boxes when Malefic was introduced. Hence why every unit in at it's minimum unit size.

Na daemon armies are great on their own. They are tricky to use but really powerful and fit my playstyle, I would gladly play with a daemon army using the current codex. Its just that I can't afford jet an other army in time and money.

Oh, sorry, I am assuming that we all play a daemon army, or at least Chaos.
As a Daemon play there are plenty of units that I like but would not fit in a list since something else would be better. Drones for example. I know units of 5+ with Herald are good, but I just don't like committing to that. So I just summon 3 as a nuisance unit.

My buddy and I have some Screamers and Plague Bearers just for summoning, and I own a Daemon Prince just in case one of my Chaos dudes becomes one (has only happened once ever). We plan to, one day, build this up into a bigger army that we share, but it hasn't happened yet and I don't see it happening for some time.

Don't most interesting codexes suffer from this ?

I bought some bloodletters just to summon against MEQ. Never had any reason to field them before but always liked the models anyway.

6x Blood Crushers
10x Blood Letters
10x Flesh Hounds
1x Herald of Tzeench

Heralds of the Great Wolf make a solid summoning station 6+ FnP and IWND on three Priests, depending on what Rune Priest got the summoning and what power it was I can turbo boost away with their bikes or run both the Daemon and Priests away from each other to satisfy the Come the Apocalypse issues.
Heretical but solid.

I don't use it often, my Fast Attack units tend to have suffered overwatch and blocked off access to the enemy so the summoned Daemons wind up milling about on objectives while the Wolves are doing the dirty work.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Yep. Most of the time, I run a Daemonic Incursion led by an Infernal Tetrad, which just leaves room for minimal units of Nurglings.

It means I can't really use a lot, but I bought or converted several units to Summon or Warpstorm in, including Plaguebearers, Bloodletters, Flesh Hounds, and most recently some Flamers.

I also converted up a Keeper of Secrets, but he's not usually for Summoning - instead, he usually joins the Incursion on the ground. If I summon up a Herald, then they can possibly bring the Keeper back if it dies.

I summon with my Orks occasionally. So I've got like 500 points of Demons. I've been searching for an Orkthirster, but haven't found a proper one.

I don't own any because I play Dark Angels who would clearly never summon demons

I've thought about it a few times, but there really aren't any demon models that I love.

Yes, I do. Horrors, Plaguebearers, nurglings, drones, screamers, flamers, burning chariots, etc.

It's like buying an extra army. It's horrible.

10 plastic War Hounds I use as Flesh Hounds.

3 Burning Chariot kits I have repurposed for various ends. This gives me 6 Screamers and 3 Heralds, and leftover Blue Horrors.

10 Pink Horrors.

The plan is to get more Daemonettes, probably by converting some old 3e Dark Eldar which are otherwise in disrepair.

Out of curiosity, since the Daemons come down via deepstrike rules would a homing beacon affect them or would they be unable to land close enough to benefit?

Yep. I own 40 bloodletters, 30 pink horrors, 20 daemonettes, and a heap of greater daemons. I don't play a daemons army and only have them around for summoning.

Currently have a Slaanesh Incursion army with Fateweaver. I am currently building lots of nurgle units for summoning to help control objectives.

I bought some of the Diaz Daemonettes and the doom cow KoS because I love the models and then 6th came out and I started to use them for summoning. It's gradually increased to a level though where I can probably field a Chaos Daemons army on its own.

Yep, when Summoning first came out I picked up a large lot of Daemons just to give it a try (using IG to summon them). First units summoned were almost always Horrors who wold then take over summoning duties, what came on next depended on situation. It was ok but not really my style so I've been disposing of the Daemons.
