Hey all,

I have a large iron warriors force with the typical large lot of vehicles, artillery, tanks etc.

I am interested in starting a new legion with a different play style.

More close combat etc. World eaters, night lords, sons of horus.
etc

I also want to play them as allies with my iron warriors.

Did the world eaters pre heresy ever fight alongside the iron warriors?

Also what do you recommend getting from the world eaters loadout?

According to the Allies chart the Iron Warriors and the World Eaters do like each other. I'd suggest Assault Marines and Apothecaries for your World Eater allies; you get FNP4+ just all the time with late-Heresy traitor World Eaters, so you get some nice big choppy units loaded with chainaxes to run forward, get in the way, be distracting, hit things, and refuse to die while the Iron Warriors sit back and pummel the enemy big guns.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Bingo.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

How are they getting 4+ FNP? Are you talking about specifically Surlak? Because that is really the only way to do it unless you mean running Crimson Path, which is not exactly their best RoW and then only when in the enemy deployment zone. Berserker Assault is really just better.

Also, to the OP, what RoW are you taking? Both of the Iron Warriors one prohibit taking Allies, as do the World Eater ones. So you would need to use some of the non-prohibitive RoW for any allied lists you want to run.

If you want to just play World Eaters all on their own, go for Berserker Assault (as noted). It is silly good. Armywide Hated outside your deployment is just great.

Staples for them would be Assault Marines with Chainaxes and Tacticals with Chainaxes in Spartans. Red Butchers are solid, too, generally. Sprinkle in Apothecaries so you can pop Exhortation of Butchery to really go for the throat. It has a hefty price, but it can be worth it if it swings the game for you.
