Hi all,

I wanted to run a list by you guys before I put down my wallet and then tape up the hole I'll have just burnt into it!

Mainly because I've not played vs' or with the Dispossessed before; I also already own a gun-line Freeguild army.

My main inspiration was the Avatars of War Seeker units. So my main theme is a slayer army supported by Battleline units and a few others.

Using synergies to my advantage I could get the 30 man Slayer unit on (provided all in range) 76 attacks on 2+/2+ -1 1 damage. The list is more supportive from there. But the main idea is a combat dwarven army.

UNGRIM IRONFIST THE SLAYER KING
THOREK IRONBROW
Warden King (General w/ Reckless + Relic Blade)
Runelord
Slayers x30
Irondrakes x10
Longbeards x20 Battleline
Warriors x20 Battleline

86 Models 104 Wounds 1500 Points

Thanks!

One thing I would warn you about is that Irondrakes can be a little underwhelming for 220pts without the Dispossessed formation letting them reroll 1s to hit. As for what you want to do instead, that is a tougher question. Here are some options I would consider:

Drop the drakes and 10 of the longbeards for 30 more slayers. That way you would have "insurance" against them just being focused down and losing your synergies. This would also generally get you more "slayer-y" goodness. Or add 30 quarellers instead of the drakes/longbeards. They have extra range (20" vs the 16" and they can move and still do the double shot unlike the drakes). Or add 30 miners for the mobility and objective grabbing (probably in 3 units of 10 to maximize the benefit from the carts).

But the list you presented would definitely be cheaper than any of the options i put forward, and while it might be a little weaker, it would definitely still be fun. Honestly, when it comes to Dispossessed, you are probably never going to have the objectively "strongest" army anyway, so it will mostly come down to proper positioning, being able to work with the double turn mechanic (either maximising yours or being prepared for theirs), being able to protect your Ungrim (who is the obvious first target), and whether or not you get some good rolls.

Hi Volund,

Thanks for the advice.

That surprises me to hear about the Irondrakes.

If my opponent is/has any monsters that D6 damage from the Grudgehammer Torpedo seems awesome?

Dropping them and 10 Longbeards however, does give me an additional 30 slayer unit which on the face of things seems pretty good!

Am I asking to just get out-maneuvered and shot off the board? I really fancied a slayer combat army, and didn't want to reach for the cannons or Quarellers.

Its a question of slayer fluff Vs competitive for me.

Thanks dude,

Well, it definitely is awesome to have it against monsters, but for my games the problem has been that it is only one attack. So without buffs, you completely miss 1/3 of the time, of the times you do hit, 1/3 of those do not wound, and of the times that actually do wound, we can imagine MonsterMan is at least a 4+ save, so 1/6 of those also do nothing at all. In a game that goes 5 rounds, 2 of the torpedoes missed, 2 failed to wound, and 1 was saved :( (obviously that is not really the way math works, but it sure seems like the way my dice work). Essentially, like most of the cool things in Dispossessed, it is awesome if it works, but probably costs too much to be worth trying because you get nothing at all when it doesnt .

Are you asking to get out maneuvered and shot off the board? Probably. Will you have an awesome time and, if they dont have enough shooting, potentially still win? Definitely.

In the end, i think it sounds like a crazy fun list, and it will be pretty slow, but will really really hurt when it actually does catch anyone. It is, for sure, a good list for times when you need to rush something and want to take Dispossessed. If you want to play a fun casual game, play the ritual with a buddy and have him bring 1.2K as the defender and see if he can withstand the might of 60 slayers!

The other good thing about this list is that it will transition well if you ever want to play a mixed order. For example 600 points, you can add Ungrim, 30 slayers, and 10 longbeards. That will keep almost all the synergy you had before (90 attacks, 2+/2+), and hopefully wreck the flank where the opponent didnt put his shooting, while your 1400 other points do the rest of the things you needed.

If your community is casual then this should be a fun army to run with. However Dispossessed have a real problem in that their infantry are simply sub-par for their cost in a game that already favors more elite models. Especially without war machines you may find yourself struggling quite often against more serious opponents.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

For the info you're looking for you need to define if this is a casual or competitive list you are trying to make?
