I'm going to LVO with Taudar which includes a Riptide Wing. The rest of the army is a Skathach, Spiders and Scats. Which would you go for.... Drone Net to make the Riptides rock, or a Culexus to do what dey do?

Culexus is better, one of the Tau and Eldars worst enemy is the Draigo-Tiggy-Grav Centurion star. Culexus are good in shut down their invisibility and the telepoter psychic ability, for you supreme firepower to kill them. Meanwhile your Farseers can ride Jetbike and avoid the Culexus.

or you could use all your psykers to 'power up' the Culexus's gun.

Is your army even bound.

If you have the points to be considering a drone net or a culexus after having as my understanding

Tau CAD - for taunar
Riptide Wing
Eldar CAD - for Skathach

Drone Net / Inq

Do you just have 3 riptides in your list.

Not much protecting the Taunar from drop pod lists in my opinion if this is the case.

Tau-dar (as in Tau & Eldar) not Tau'nar

Riptide wing & Eldar CAD then either culexus or drone net

Hmmm

In that case with those 600 spare points a drone net to help the rip tide wing against the flying tzeentch circuses taht will obviously be on the table at LVO. Magnus + DP friends. Kairos with LoCs + Tzeentch friends.

I'm looking at running basically the same list. I've tried the culexus in a couple of games with my regular tau so far and he does score points by making your opponent sweat but I don't think he really earns back his points. But that's just me. I played him against a Magnus lead flying circus. The circus just flew out of range of the assassin and started beating up on my riptide wing. The best thing I've seen him do so far is kill off the battery and go hold an objective. Not sure if that's worth it as SMS will do about the same to his battery. I also am not sure if the drone network is worth it if you're only supporting a riptide wing with it. Sure you can have low ap large blasts that ignore cover (assuming you didn't take the HBC which I'm starting see a lot more competitive lists take) but that's about it. So you have around 224 points of wiggle room? How many warp spiders do you have? Or scat bikes? Or farseers? Do your riptides have stims? How about taking an inquisitor with skulls for cheap? Not super familiar with GSC yet but isn't infiltration their thing?

3 units of Spiders, 3 or 4 units of Scats. If I take the drones, it's no Farseer and 3 units of Spiders. If Culexus, 3 scats with farseer or 4 without. My Riptides all have EWO and skyfire. I think that's more important than FNP.

I don't think you have enough Tau to justify dropping 224+ points on marker lights. I'd say either get a Culexus or 2 squads of Sisters of Silence. You might also consider changing the Riptides to ion accelerators so they're a little more marker-independent.

eh, if you have skyfire the ion accelerator is nerfed more or less. But if you have no blast templates they are the bomb. But then I wouldn't bother with skyfire. Don't forget about mysterious objectives, too. Most objective based missions use them so you have a not unreasonable chance of rolling a 3 on one of them. In my last tau list I took the ion accelerator only because I was also running an OSC so I figured I had enough pew-pew happening in the list even though it was fairly mid range shooting.

You are correct, but I want to win with my Draigo-Loth-Centurion star against his army, so I think he should go with the Drone Net

Sadly, I won't actually be at LVO this year but I can still meta-shape to my own agenda!
